Empire of the Summer Moon

There is much that makes this book a Pulitzer finalist. Gwynne's enthralling and masterful book on the "rise and fall" of the Comanche tribe during one of the most violent and turbulent times in American history makes me wish there was enough footage to create my third documentary on this subject. Alas, there is not, so settle down with prickly pear margarita: 1 oz fresh lime
1 oz fresh lemon
2 oz superb tequila
1 1/2 oz triple sec
1 oz prickly pear juice
splash of oj
blend together with ice, salt rim of glass and enjoy.
This epic history is entertaining and informative. Told from another perspective of the problem between the advancing white men and the Comanche warriors. With graphic descriptions of what would happen to women and children who were captured I was on the edge of my seat, neither rooting for the whites or the "reds".
I can't recommend this book enough. You will learn, be entertained, thrilled, horrified and ultimately be very satisfied with this brilliant piece of our history.
