Happy Spring From Connecticut
I write this title with little proof but a lot of hope. I have seen a few brave daffodils and, even though my own trees are still ‘bare ruined choirs,’ I have spotted a mist of green on some of the trees in the park where I walk my dog. So I have great hope that this seemingly eternal winter will finally end. And the seemingly eternal hiatus in my writing career is ending as well. After six long years, my new book, A Reluctant Queen, will be out in the bookstores in mid-June.
It’s the story of Esther from the Old Testament transformed into a signature Joan Wolf romance. If you liked my other books, you will like this one. I first wrote it fifteen years ago, when my father was dying, so it has a very special place in my heart. At that time my publishing company did not want to do anything related to the bible, so I put it aside. To my delight, I was able to sell it to Thomas Nelson, a Christian publishing house that liked the idea of biblical romance. They have done a beautiful job on the book - the cover is wonderful (you can see it on my website).
Esther is a marvelous heroine, an unknown Jewish girl who marries the Great King of Persia and saves her people from annihilation. It has all my favorite elements: a strong heroine, a to-die-for hero, one of the world’s best villains, and a luminous love story. It has always been one of my most beloved Bible stories because it shows how God chose a woman as the instrument He wanted to carry out his plan. The Old Testament is filled with men chosen by God, but not too many women, and certainly none whose mission was as tremendous as Esther’s.
So I do hope you will give A Reluctant Queen: The Love Story of Esther a try. Go to your local bookstore and ask for it - and, if they don’t have it, ask them to get it! Or buy it from Amazon. And tell your friends and family. It’s my first book in six years and I so want it to be a success.
Happy Spring to you all,
Joan
