Jeff Harstad is a U.S. Army veteran who served during the early years of the Global War on Terror. Drawing from personal letters, firsthand experience, and reflections written both during and long after deployment, his work explores the human cost of war beyond headlines and history books.

His writing focuses on the realities of military life, brotherhood, fear, resilience, and the lasting psychological impact of combat. Rather than glorifying war, Harstad seeks to present an honest account of what it means to endure it, and what it means to come home.

He is the author of Mirage in the Sand: Reflections of a Grunt in the Early Days of GWOT. When not writing, he spends time with his family and enjoys traveling throughout the world.
