Bad Deal-Anthology Novella
It won’t be long now. Bad Deal is my novella in the upcoming Pets Anthology

Blurb
One man will risk everything for a woman he shouldn’t want.
Luka’s past is checkered with shadows, but when his brother’s debt endangers Kari Ma’are, he finds himself becoming her unexpected guardian. With Kari’s life in his hands, he discovers a reason to look beyond his past.
Find out if a deal struck in the heat of passion can be the reward they both unknowingly seek.
Excerpt
She wasn’t sure how long she was out, but Luka’s pained groan woke her. She tapped his cheeks, trying to wake him. “Luka, its Kari.”
Another groan accompanied by a grimace then his eyes flashed open, an eerie glow to the green gaze. “Hungry.”
An appetite had to be a good sign the anti-venom had worked. Excited, she attempted to sit up. “I can grab you a nutrient bar.”
“No.” His grip tightened. “Gwyfed. Need more.”
“More?” She paused in her efforts to move. “More like what?”
“I’m Gwyfed,” he repeated as his gaze dropped to her neck. “We feed on blood.”

New Book News
Finally! I get to finally share news I’ve been holding in since January this year. Pets in Space is celebrating their 10th anniversary release and I was fortunate to get invited. I remember participating earlier in my career and was just as thrilled to include a novella this year. I’ll be sharing the spotlight with Carol Van Atta, SE Smith, Honey Phillips, EG Manetti, Veronica Scott, Pauline Baird Jones, Stephanie Pajonas, and Skye MacKinnon. The anthology is up for preorder and will be available on our retailers.

Updates and books
Well, surely I need to update more frequently. Sorry about that. I’m working behind the scenes on admin clean up and one of those things is my newsletter so it doesn’t look like spam to subscribers or the “this may be dangerous”. Ugh. So many fidly technical things to stay on.
But I am here. I am writing. I finished the novella for the secret project and if all goes to plan, I can reveal more this summer. I can say that its a sci-fi, new characters, military heroine and a daredevil hero. My fave elements to write about
Also, I’ve gotten to the this could be nice part of another sci-fi I’m working on AND a contemporary. I haven’t written a contemporary since No Reason to Run my first release but this book is holding my interest. More to come and maybe covers and blurbs for all 3.
As to those waiting for book 3 in the Vassi world. It’s still looking like a 2025 release and if I can pull this off with the books I have planned, I will be thrilled.

Fave Recent Reads
So in addition to catching up on movies, I have a few books I’ve recently read that I absolutely loved!
Legacy of Chaos by Larissa Ione-Enemies to Lovers paranormal romance. This is one of my fave authors so I went in knowing she can do no wrong. LOL. This is a new series that features the kids from her Demonica and Four Horsemen series. Now I’ll admit as a reader my pet peeve about “next gen” books is when the author doesn’t advance the time. Ex. parents book occurs in 2024 then kids books occur in…2024. Ugghhhh. LMAO. Proving she’s a true author boss, Ione’s original books occurred in the early 2000’s as a contemps. The kids books are based in 2030 and there is tech and advancement to reflect time change.

The Wrong Bride by Gena Showalter-Paranormal shifter marriage of convenience with a twist. Now Showalter is another autobuy author for me so I can depend on her delivering humor, great romance and a satisfying HEA. The heroine is hysterical in this.

House of Fire & Magic by Sherrilyn Kenyon-You guessed it, another author I’ve been reading for over a decade. LOL. What can I say, I like who I like. BUT in my defense, these ladies deliver time and again. Now for the Kenyon book she does a fantasy romance. Her past stuff was paranormal or sci-fi so I was a little hesitant but man, I’m glad I tried it. Different from her normal genre and features a unique hero shifter. This might be a different genre for her but at the core, Kenyon’s ability to weave a good tail shines through.

So that’s what I’ve been reading and loving

Update
Hey readers. So much to say and so much to update. First, my apologies for the delay on At Night’s Fall. The book wasn’t where I needed it to be so I cancelled the preorder. I didn’t feel comfortable, delaying it again without having a solid date on when it would be ready to release.
Thank you for those who reached out wondering the status or just checking in on me
I’m fine. It’s hard to write with so many things going on and I made a promise in 2023 to prioritize family and life which meant not dragging my laptop everywhere to write. LOL.
In social media news, I deactivated my twitter for…reasons. I am on blue sky which seems very book positive and reader friendly so far. I’m @mhowardwrites if you want to follow me. I’m still playing with it so give me some time to get up and ready but I’d love to talk books if you join. I’ll also get back to updating Facebook but my plan for 2025 is to concentrate on sharing info and news about my books here on my website. It’s real estate I own and don’t have to worry too much about trolls. My newsletter will also be a good source of info so if you haven’t joined, please do.
Ok, will update again soon.

Sneak Peek-At Night’s Fall
For those who have been waiting patiently for the next Vassi Contact book, here is a sneak peek. Available on all retailers

She cleared her throat and ignored the flush working its way up her neck to her face with everyone staring at her. The only one who mattered was Emeka. “On Earth, I’m paid to touch objects and know its history, where it’s from and authenticate its province.”
Rysdal sneered but she rushed on before he could interrupt. “I’m also contracted out to recover stolen artifacts. I find things.”
“She’s like a treasure hunter,” Eve piped in.
Rysdal barely spared her friend a glance. “You find things. My son is not a thing.”
“Right.” Nerves raced up her spin in the form of a chill she couldn’t shake. She held up her gloved hands in agreement. This was about a lost child. Nothing he said would stop her. “Touching something of Emeka’s will not only allow me to sense his feelings, I may be able to see who took him. Visions sometimes accompany my psychometry.”
After getting it all out, her heart thumped madly as she waited for him to speak. What happened next was contingent on how reasonable he’d be or if he even believed her.
Rysdal eyed her with no expression on his face. The silence seemed to drag forever when she knew only seconds had gone by. Finally, he said in a voice draped in ice. “You may try.”

I’m still here!!!
Happy 2024, birthday, Valentine, Easter and preemptively Memorial day. LOL. I have been MIA. My apologies. There’s been a lot going on but good stuff. I made myself a promise on my birthday in 2023 to focus on myself, spend time with family and take a step back from work and all the stress it sometimes come with. BUT, I didn’t expect to ignore my site for the entire first quarter of 2024! Yikes.
I’ll send a newsletter soon for those who subscribe but quick and short my provider made some changes that require tech knowledge to make it work and not have my newsletter show as spam in your inbox. I admit to ducking my head in the sand and not wanting to deal. So, I’ll have to deal with that before I actually risk sending a newsletter and frightening everyone.
On the book front, I’m going to have to move At Night’s Fall back. I’ll have the new date up on all the vendors and retailers shortly. Unfortunately, circumstances have kept me from getting this out in time for the June release date. For those who’ve been eagerly waiting for the next installment, I sincerely apologize and hope the book meets all your expectations when it does come out. Ok, I think that’s enough for now. I’ll post more with tidbits, authorly stuff and try to get back in the groove. If anyone is still into following websites that is hahaha
