The first rule of a writer/storyteller, is to entertain. Actually it was P D James I first heard say that and she was right. Don't try to be clever with words. Remember you're an entertainer.
On top of that I am doing something I love. As my father once said to me if you are working at something you love you will never do another day's work in your life - that's how it seems.(less)

Waking up

Here goes. Never even knew I had a blog. Still, there's something an old cat can learn every day.
This from a woman who has just had new eyes - what I mean is cataracts removed and ocular implants substituted for my tired old naturals.
Perhaps this will mean new insight into my writing. Perhaps I will analyse people around me and make them into new characters for future books.
I've got a load of ide Read more of this blog post »

“scruffy”
Lizzie Lane, New Neighbours for Coronation Close

“pink roses. ‘Milk?’ Isaac held a tin of condensed milk above her cup. She shook her head. ‘I’ll have it black.’ ‘Isaac. Let us have a drop of rum in our tea. Let’s drink a toast to the king, both him who has passed and him who inherits the crown.’ A teaspoonful of rum was added to each cup. A slight movement drew Jenny’s attention back to the wall. The cockroach had fallen to the floor. The cat ate it.”

Werner Stejskal Hi, I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to ask you a small favor. I’ve been writing and publishing many short stories (over 100), and one of them is The Lightborn Generation. The tricky part for independent authors is that getting reviews is surprisingly difficult.
My stories are available on most downloadable media like Kobo, Barnes & Noble, etc. Please consider reading this short story and leaving a review. Thanks! All the best,
Werner
