I’m a San Diego-based Wellness Design Consultant, Certified Kitchen Designer, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, Mayo Clinic Certified Wellness Coach, journalist, speaker, industry consultant and author.

Since becoming a designer in 2004 after a three-decade career in media and marketing, I’ve completed hundreds of kitchens and baths, working with homeowners, architects, builders and contractors across the country, both in person and remotely. My professional focus is the link between healthy living and healthy home spaces. This was one of the reasons for my inclusion in a 2017 industry 50 Innovators list.

The legendary actor died alone, brought down by his Alzheimer's and severe coronary disease. But also because of his isolation. That could happen to many of us — myself included — as we live longer on our own. I pondered at the time, and ever since, whether smart home technology could have prevented his tragic fate, and could be a solution for the 16 million older adults who live alone in the U.S.
