World-building post
I get quite a few questions about how realistic I think my world-building scenario is in "Schism" and world-building in dystopian fiction in general. Those of your interested in my thoughts on this subject, check out this guest post I wrote this week:

A big thanks to Laura for hosting my guest post and reviewing my book. So appreciated!
Happy Reading,

Reviews and more
Hey fellow readers and writers!
I've gotten quite a few reviews for my work in the past month, and I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. It means so much!
Also, I'll be posting the first two chapters of my next book here on Goodreads and my website (www.brittholewinski.com) later this month...my mom is reading it now to check for typos!! Oh, the things we self-published folks have stoop to!
Thanks again!

Title for Book 2...
I finally started saving my "Book 2" file on my laptop as the working title for the follow-on to "Schism." Somehow it makes me feel like I'm making extra progress, which in a way is true...coming up with a title is very tricky, at least for me.
So...the working title now is "Ravin." Yes, that's a real word. An old and little-used word, but a Webster word nonetheless...look it up!
I like using old words from decades to centuries ago. Maybe it's my way of rebelling against the "short cuts" rampant in the English language of late (i.e., "lol," "omg," "totes,") Alas, I'm guilty of doing this, so maybe my love of old words is my penance.
Happy Reading!

Kirkus and Indie Reader Reviews
I'm so excited for the reviews I've just received from both Kirkus and Indie Reader for "Schism" and thought I'd share!
"This apocalyptic teen drama’s character interactions may draw readers in, but its vigorous story will keep them hooked." - Kirkus Reviews
“Schism is an engrossing page turner that skillfully deals with dark subject matter in a compelling, through-provoking manner…The writing is crisp and clear, and the novel’s details are well-researched, down to the names of local roads and landmarks and the types of technology used by the survivors.” - Indie Reader
Hooray!! These made my day.

Thanks to those readers who have posted reviews of my book, "Schism," here on Goodreads! It is a big support and boost for us authors, and I treasure each review: praise or criticism alike. It makes me a better writer and motivates me to keep crafting words, so thanks!

Research
One of the best things about writing a book is all the random things you learn from you the research you undertake to write about anything just to be accurate. Today I learned all about sutures and the equipment used to stitch up a wound. Paging Dr. Britt!
