Meet Jake Dawson - Remember the Shadow
Jake Dawson had it all. Good lucks, great athletic ability, and a full ride scholarship to CBU. He met the perfect girl, Roxalyn Dominguez and was building a wonderful life.
Then it happened, a torn tendon, a broken ankle, one of the worst injuries in college sports. The doctors told Jake it would take months for him to heal.
Soon, all his friends and admirers moved on to other players, no sponsorships or endorsements, grants and scholarships pulled back.
He was gone, finished.
But Jake pushed back. He was more than a face and pair of shoes. His mind was intact and sharper than ever. His mother once told him "Son, people can take away your car, your house, your belongings, your shoes. Your girl can walk away, your kids can disconnect from you, but the one thing that you have that can never be taken away is your education."
Jake went back, slowly, and chose Geology. Texas is filled with energy companies: fossil, wind and electric. Resources are hidden in the ground, in valleys and mountains. Jake felt that one day, he would make the find of the century.
He studied, he hustled, he stayed up all night, worked, went to rehab until his legs were stronger. For every hour in the gym, he spent two at the library.
Jake Dawson will become famous one day, not for scoring points but for finding something special, for discovering lost treasure or knowledge, deep within the Earth.

New Free Stories available
Hi everyone,
A bit of an update, as I am slowly recovering from a bout of tendonitis, I did post two free short stories on my website (maxvarrow.com).
The First Command
A prequel the Shadows of Veldrath, we get to see Varkalon and his sinister wife, Valestra, go to the forbidden country of Broodmire to speak to their master who gives them their great task. However, when Valestra begins to ask questions, they find out why Broodmire is the most feared country in the world.
Midnight Rendezvous
A story set in my Varrow Mythos, Aaron Baker is a lonely guy looking for a date. When a matchmaking service offers a quick solution, Aaron will find out that no good thing comes without a price.
These stories give a free sample of my stories set in the horror and fantasy genres. I plan to release more content in the weeks to come.

It's almost ready. The Angler Expanded Edition is in post-production and final editing phase. The cover has been designed and will be shared in my other social media accounts.
This book is now an anthology with each story bring its own flavor and dread. The Anglers are also present and causing problems. But even the forces of evil eventually meet their match.

-A little girl doesn't she is being targeted by a mischievous creature who seeks to destroy her heirloom, but a guardian is watching and waiting for the creature.
