The sad state of our splintering union

Did this opinion for the St. Paul Pioneer Press on July 22. Very difficult to write. But I felt I must release my cri de coeur for my country.

Note to Donald Trump: The Woman's Card Does Not Guarantee Ease

My May 27 opinion for MinnPost covers Donald Trump's vaunted Woman Card and the dominance women have in the tough profession known as caregiving. https://www.minnpost.com/community-vo...

Goodbye Minnesota

Had to leave my Minnesota home (again). This time, it's likely for quite some time. Hope you enjoy the piece.

Unmarried people? We are just fine. We also can run for president if we want.

My latest for MinnPost, on GOP presidential candidate Lindsey Graham's unmarried status and everyone's right to be married or unmarried.

Aristotle and Fifty Shades of Grey

A piece I recently did for MinnPost, where I am a regular contributor, concerns the matter of avoiding danger (as counseled by Aristotle) while considering that involved in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Hard retirement truths learned while on a six-month Arizona caretaking exile

My story about some of what I've learned about retirement while taking care of my mother for six months in the hot sands of Arizona. In the January 8, 2015 edition of MinnPost.

Thanksgiving may not be Norman Rockwell but it is still worthy of thanks

My piece for MinnPost on not shopping on Thanksgiving. Even if you don't have a perfectly roasted turkey or if you do need a 1,000-inch screen TV.

My op-ed on focusing on domestic violence beyond the current news cycle

Did this op-ed for MinnPost, where I am a regular contributor. Domestic violence is more than a current news story. Domestic violence is a scourge that goes far beyond the National Football League.

We are fascinated with Iceland's volcanoes. But why?

Here's a short piece I wrote for Iceland Review that tries to explain as much:

A real life Life Erupted

Here is the story I did for MinnPost, where I am a regular contributor. It concerns the life eruptions I've had to navigate since my mum had a mild stroke on June 23. The magma road led to Arizona, where I'm living for a while as I help my mother make her expected full recovery. The story also was reprinted in the Casa Grande Dispatch, the daily paper in the town where my mother lives. Hope it resonates with some of you.
