I'm Anneque G. Malchien, highly experimental writer into all speculative fiction genres, advocate of sci-fi thrillers, horror, fantasy comedy and human drama. Well, who isn't?

At the moment I'm writing an alternate history series. Or a series of series, as each series deals with a different aspect of the same universe. It kicks off in Europe in 1905, a boom-time of arts, culture and technology, where travel abroad became increasingly chic, opening up societies in a way they had never been before. Along with the rapidly evolving sciences of this time came an empirical study of the supernatural - everything from God and angels to vampires and werewolves are hauled off to the laboratory for studying.
The first of these stories is The Vampires of

The Anatomical Vampire

This week we are joined by virologist Dr Roland Lambert from the School of Industrial Chemistry in our very own Paris. The young doctor provides an intriguing dissertation of a popular urban myth – but is there more to the Vampire than legend?

Anne Fadiman
“If you truly love a book, you should sleep with it, write in it, read aloud from it, and fill its pages with muffin crumbs.”

Stephen King
“The 3 types of terror: The Gross-out: the sight of a severed head tumbling down a flight of stairs, it's when the lights go out and something green and slimy splatters against your arm. The Horror: the unnatural, spiders the size of bears, the dead waking up and walking around, it's when the lights go out and something with claws grabs you by the arm. And the last and worse one: Terror, when you come home and notice everything you own had been taken away and replaced by an exact substitute. It's when the lights go out and you feel something behind you, you hear it, you feel its breath against your ear, but when you turn around, there's nothing there...”

“We were outside the world, we didn't even own things -- some clothes. . . . This arrangement resembles the prehistoric way to live, and it therefore feels right to us, because our brains recognize it from 3 millions of years practicing it. In essence our brains grew to their current configuration in response to the realities of that life. So as a result people grow powerfully attached to that kind of life, when they get the chance to live it. It allows you to concentrate your attention on the real work, which means everything that is done to stay alive, to make things, or satisfy one's curiosity, or play. That is utopia.”
Kim Stanley Robinson, Red Mars

“Science was many things, Nadia thought, including a weapon with which to hit other scientists.”

“But lies were what people wanted; that was politics.”
