GRL 2016 Here I come

I know I haven’t blogged in ages and my readers have every right to think I’ve fallen off the edge of the earth (or gone exploring the “there be dragons” corner of the map) but in reality I’ve merely been on hiatus that I hope to break very soon. To help motivate me, I’ve signed up to attend this year’s Gay Rom Lit conference in Kansas City as a supporting author. I really enjoyed attending the conference in Chicago two years ago as a reader, and lookforward to seeing my favorite authors agai...

Self Editing Hack to Slay the “You and I” Dragon

Author Self-Editing Hacks

It seems that lately I can’t get away from the incorrect usage of “you and I” instead of “you and me”. I hear it in songs, see it on TV, and read it in articles and books (self, traditional, and small press published.) So many people, including professional writers and editors, get this one aspect of grammar wrong, it’sasmall wonder everyone is confused.

(I’m not immune. To my chagrin, on occasion I make this mistake as well. )

Still, just because it’s a common mis...

How to respond to Bible Quoting #LGBT haters

I came across this awesome post today with advice on how someone who is not all that familiar with the Bible should respond to a Bible-verse spewing bigot. Well, the author of the post was far more diplomatic, but let’s call a spade a spade.

The people who quote Bible verses to bolster their arguments are mostly (actually, I think it’s safe to say universally) “Cafeteria Christians” who pick and choose which Bible verses they consider holy gospel and which they willfully ignore. (Hint: usua...

Gay Acrobats Propose on Italian TV

As a gay romance author, I can’t think of anything more inspiring than these Italian Acrobats who just got engaged on Italy’s Got Talent. I found the story this morning on Gay Star News, where you can read all the details.

I could watch this proposal video over and over! So sweet!

And the reaction from the audience, the hosts and the other performers is fantastic!

Andrew Christian Behind the Scenes Video (Hot!)

Welcome to my first blog post on my re-designed website. I thought it would be fitting to make it a hot video post.

I really should say soon to be re-designed website. Right now it’s still very much a work in progress. But in any case, the guys in this video are hot so I thought you might enjoy watching them while I work to get the rest of the site into presentable shape. :) Enjoy!

Self Publishing and Audio Books

I ran across an interesting article today about creating audiobooks for self-published authors. Usually when this happens I tweet about the article, but I recently realized that I need to go a step further and include a link on my blog for future reference (mostly because going through my twitter feed to find these articles when I need them later in a pain in the neck!) So here it is. I hope you will find it useful as well:

Which of these 3 stories should I finish first?

keyboardFebruary is going to be a lean month in terms of book sales. And when I say lean, I mean “3 packs of ramen per week” lean. So far this month, I’ve managed to sell whopping 4 books for a total of $2.34 in commissions. Ouch!

Now, lest anyone worry, my husband is working, so thankfully we don’t have to live off my “earnings.” Still, even without depending on my writing income, the February figure is shocking.

Of course, much of it is probably due to the fact that I haven’t published anything new...

Infographic: Perfect length for online user engagement

I’ve been reading and learning a lot about on-line social media networking and engagement. I’ll admit, it’s not my favorite kind of research, but whether I like it or not, on-line marketing is a must for a self-published author like me. And if I’m going to take the time to do it, I might as well take the time to learn how to do it right. Heaven knows I haven’t been doing it right for the past couple of years and it shows.

Anyway, today I came across this awesome infographic, and I wanted to s...
