Women are awesome!
Here's one reason among so many other reasons for why I love to write for and about women. It's because we are so amazing!
Women are so strong and so open to one another. We have a sub culture all our own. We seem to have an extra gene that makes us wonderfully perceptive. We share thoughts and experiences with complete strangers...everything from childbirth tips to the woes of PMS and yeast infections, lazy men, disloyal men, brat kids, fears, hurts, and all the laughter we can snag in between.
I LOVE being a woman. I am so very proud of all the ways women work together, especially in the life moments when all we have is each other. I love to celebrate women and the awesome girlfriends we are to one another.

Here Comes Spring!
Working for many days on Beach Reads... they will be available just in time for spring and summer vacations away from stress.
While you girls are sunning and sipping little drinks with umbrellas ... (or are you the types who go after straight shots of tequila?) I hope you will have one of my books right there beside you!

Willows in your heart
Here's something wonderful... first thing this morning, I read a beautiful email from a woman who recently finished reading my latest book, "Forever the Willows."
I could immediately feel and know for a fact that she took from the pages what I so much wanted to give... and then from that wonderful moment, I saw three amazing reviews on Amazon. Those readers too - well they definitely "got" what I was hoping to give.
All of my work- even if it's funny- has a message for women...whether it's about how and why you should dump a self absorbed ass to why we should take care of ourselves like we care for everyone around us.
"Forever the Willows" is about the deepest part of the heart, where pain sometimes hangs around for years, unable to heal.
To those of you who commit to read my work- I thank you so very much. And for those who read "Willows," I do hope you will open your heart as you open the book. And give yourself the chance to really feel what your dear friends mean to you. After that, make sure you tell them so! And share Willows with the girlfriends you love most! There's nothing more wonderful than a well-loved book- with dog-eared pages and little notes and lots of thoughts.
Be happy, Girls!

Celebrate YOU
I'll be setting up shop this Thursday at my very first authorfest, scheduled in Marco Island... I'm excited and nervous. But I will be there anyway.
This year is all about stepping past my comfort zone without even looking to see the other side.. or if there even is another side.
I'm interested in doing everything that makes my heart go crazy.. and so, new experiences and adventures have to be part of my life now. I need that.
Here I come, world! Me and my very gawdy flamingo... we will be there, hoping to spread the word that my books are funny but they are also heartfelt.. and they each have a message for women.. find and celebrate your power!

Pushy Plots
Here's the problem: All these different characters hang around in my head, waiting for their turn to show up on the pages of one of my books. It's a good problem to have... if I could invent a way to clone myself. But because that's not possible- and that is a GOOD thing- I spend a lot of time feeling anxious about my time. Does that even make sense?
Last time I dreamed another book. And today, I am fighting off the need to at least start the book. But I have two others ahead of it... I have a headache and hives. Not fun.
Hang with me, though. I'm going as fast as I can!

Honesty Among Females
Yesterday, I hauled books into the Marco Island Center for the Arts, to participate in their first Author Fest and mine, too. Once again, I was reminded that women of all ages and all walks of life love to laugh. They don't mind that I'm a bit off-color... after all, I do offer humor. But I also offer life. I don't sugar coat. I won't avoid subjects just because some people might be offended... In my world, which is composed of lots and lots of women, both married and single, younger, older, timid, bolder.. women are sexual people. They are capable and energetic. They can be a little bit bratty..they can cuss a blue streak. So what? I talk about what's real... we all deserve that honesty. We are powerful adult women. And we should celebrate that every day.

Shoulda been a mermaid
I don't think there's another person in the world who loves the beach more than me. I just recently finished writing a fun "beach read" called Beach Rx. And I am working on another one, "Flamingo Floozies." I always envision women digging their toes in the sand and laughing their faces off in the sun as they enjoy these books.
Writing is always a gift for me. But these two pieces have reminded me of what I have always known about myself.. for some reason, being at the beach soothes me... no matter what awful stuff might be going on in my life, I feel centered there. I have made all of my major life decisions while floating on a raft in the ocean. On sad days or frustrating days, I get in my car and drive to the beach to soak up the sun or to just enjoy an awesome sunset... and then everything in my world is more explainable.
I'm thinking I would have made a great mermaid!
