Book Review: WHITEOUT - KEN FOLLETT

WhiteoutFor Ken Follett fans WHITEOUT is a real treat. Ken is in his elements as he combines terrorism with family drama. A house on the cliff, a family celebrating Christmas, a blizzard cutting off all roads and a disgruntled son barging in with three hardened criminals. Filled with startling twists, Whiteout is the ultimate crime thriller.

Stanley Oxenford, director of a pharmaceutical research company, has everything riding on a drug he is developing to fight a lethal virus. The virus Madoba-2 is stored in the lab. Somebody wants to steal it and is willing to pay a huge sum for it.

Toni Gallo, head of his security team and recently forced to resign from the police, is betting her career on keeping it safe. The violent trio of thugs will stop at nothing to steal the virus.

A thriller is only gripping if the reader cares about the people who are in danger in the story. This is where Ken Follett succeeds 100%.

Book Review - Fifty Shades of Grey: E L James

Book Review - Fifty Shades of Grey: E L James
Summary: Pornographic trash.
Rating: Fit for the nearest dustbin.

Story: The hero is extremely good looking the simple heroine goes to interview him and falls for him. Hero was abused sexually as a teenager so he becomes a sadist who gets his kicks by physically hurting women. Out of the 514 pages the couple remains in bed for about 400 pages. The description is so boring and repetitive that one falls asleep every 20 pages. He wants heroine to sign a stupid contract in which he is designated 'dominant' and she 'submissive' so he can treat her anyway he wishes. The hero gets the shock of his life when heroine tells him that she is a virgin. Who wouldn't if a 22 yr old is a virgin in USA. There is a 'Room of Pain' in which instruments of torture are stored. The hero ties the heroine and beats her which she seems to enjoy. One day he beats her black and blue with a leather belt and finally the heroine can't take it any more and goes away.

HOW IMPORTANT IS WRITING TO ME?

My books will be the only proof that I existed once. They are my footprints on mother earth that I will leave behind, my only legacy.
