Anne Moncure Crane (Seemüller) (January 7, 1838 – December 10, 1872) [1][2] was an American writer of the popular novels Emily Chester, Opportunity and Reginald Archer. Her writing explored female sexual desire, making it controversial in some quarters of post-Civil War American society. The author Henry James, among others, was influenced by Crane's books. ...more
