Stoyan Vassilev was born in Bulgaria, works in the USA, and writes stories that straddle the Atlantic Ocean. He was the the recipient of the Miriam Ylvisaker Fellowship at San Francisco State University and was enrolled in their MFA of Creative Writing program until he dropped out due to family reasons. He was the winner of the Michael Rubin Award for his collection of short stories Hope Seven, published by Fourteen Hills Press. He lives in Mill Valley, Northern California, with his wife and three children.
