The Bit Bill Bryson Missed

I find Bill Bryson’s books hugely enjoyable; both informative and entertaining. However much as I liked ‘Down Under’, his guide to Australia published in 2000, it does have a bit missing. Of course with such an immense country (I have a postcard showing how all of Europe fits comfortably inside Australia’s borders) he couldn’t be expected to go every where, but to miss out Perth seems unaccountabl Read more of this blog post »

This book grabbed my attention and I couldn't put it down - until the last few chapters. The ending felt rushed with a big information dump instead of the action playing out. A shame as it was so good otherwise. ...more

L Dear Joy,
Thank you so much for being my friend here on GoodReads, and for acepting my friendship request/ sending a request! I am a huge fan of fantasy and also i am a keen equestrian and have ridden & worked within the industry for many years as well as 'sharing/ loaning' horses (unable to afford to buy one as yet) - so feel free to discuss both.
I have downloaded your novel the soul-travellers' on Kindle PC and i am looking forward to reading and reviewing it. Thank you so much once again.

Kind Regards
Lucinda x

Annis Pratt Dear Joy,
Yes, I guess The Peppered Moth could be heavy going. On the subject of easier to read books, I just found a whole stash of Angela Thirkell novels at a book sale and have been enjoying them thoroughly even though she couldn't be more different from me in her class prejudice, conservatism, etc. Wonder what makes me just adore her and P.G. Wodehouse?
