Celebrating 9 Million Views
Half the time I don't know what I'm doing in this writing business. I feel lost here on Goodreads as to how to connect with people under my Roxy persona, same on Twitter and Facebook. I go for years without writing.
However, one area that is succesful and seems to flow without any problems is my blog where I post free short stories (that I write for my hubby!). I just hit a landmark 9 million total views, and over 3 million unique visitors since I started it 3 years ago - even though there are only 10 posts there.
I have no idea how that compares wiht other blogs, but to me, it's somethign to celebrate. I write because I love it and I will keep doing so and I will keep posting my free stories.... new one coming very soon for the first time in 2 years, wonder how that will affect my blog stats.

Featured on Glamour.com!
Well now that I'm BACK and writing more sexy short stories for my Roxy Hart Erotica blog, I thought I would do a little analysis of my stats on there, as you do.
Checking out where most of my traffic comes from, what search terms they use, etc. In the 'referrers' section, I noticed a few coming to my blog from Glamour.com. Huh? What was that all about? So I clicked the link, and was delighted to discover that my blog, Roxy Hart Erotica, was referred to in article promoting literary porn for women!
Moreover, it was not just referred to but recommended as an example of good literary porn available online, AND it was recommended by an actual knows-what-she's-talking-about woman with letters afetr her name and everything :)
See, right here: http://www.glamour.com/story/literary-porn
OMG! Feeling rather chuffed, I must say!

Feels good to be back!
After another extensive break from writing sexy stories, I am back!
Life keeps getting in the way (you know, like - 'real' life with kids and housework and stuff, as opposed to 'Roxy' life where I just dream up sexy fantasies all day long!)
However, I do keep checking in with feedback on my blog www.roxyharterotica.com and I LOVE the feedback - women telling me that my stories are their 'go to' masturbation helperes, couples telling me my stories have spiced up their love life, all sorts of amazing comments which make me LOVE writing even more!
I just discovered I've had nearly 9 million views on my blog since i started it in 2013 and I am so wowed and grateful - and it's time for some new content.
I'm writing a new (as yet unnamed) novella about a sexually frustrated woman who returns to working life after a long marriage and a divorce and finds herself fantasizign about every man who crosses her path - and then deciding it's time to 'get back on the horse'.
I will post some of the sexy bits free on my blog as short stories. It will be ready to be released in a couple of weeks.
And I am determined to get the hang of Goodreads and connectw ith more amazing authors and readers. Any tips, gratefully received.
Ciao for now!
Roxy

My New Life As an Author of Erotica
I’ve become a whole new person in the last week. Well, for some of the time. I actually do feel like I have two personalities, though both are truly me. There’s me, the mother, the wife, the children’s book author and illustrator, the website designer, and then there’s Roxy, the erotica author, delving into my deepest desires, my wildest fantasies and shaping them into stories.
So why did I start writing erotica? Well I always loved reading sexy stories. It turns me on, simple as that. I remember back when I was a teenager and my boyfriend (now husband) had a stash of porn magazines under the bed, I would skim through them when he was out, not particularly interested in the pictures but lapping up the stories sent in by ‘readers’ wives’. I have a vivid imagination and could easily imagine myself in any of the scenarios. It was like living a wild raunchy sex life with a diversity of men while still being in a loving committed monogamous relationship. My boyfriend never complained either… he could tell when I’d been reading my little stories!!!
The years passed, we had children, carved out our careers, all that life stuff. The porn got chucked out, though we always maintained a pretty healthy sex life. However, in the past couple of years, I found myself becoming more lustful again, feeling the urge for more excitement. Frankly, feeling horny! I guess it’s true what they say about women when they turn thirty! I turned to erotica again, thrilled by the amount I found on blogs online, my husband thrilled by how I’d jump his bones the minute he walked in the door, ready to have my needs satisfied. My kindle was a Godsend, allowing me to indulge my little reading pleasure even more – and unlike my laptop – I could take it anywhere (a candlelit bath is my all time favourite reading spot and about the only place I get any peace from he kids!).
Then the idea of combining my two pleasures came to me. I am naturally a writer – it’s what I do – it’s how I express myself. I write children’s stories, and young adult novels, I write poems and posts. Why not write some erotica myself? My husband and I are best friends as well as spouses, and of course lovers. I tell him everything. I actually found myself worrying how he’d feel about it. I mean, sex is our thing. Our private thing. Would he think it was odd that I wanted to write all my fantasies in stories and share them with the world? As it turned out, he didn’t think it was odd at all. He was positively encouraging. I think I can guess why! Not only that, but he became a contributor too – we had the most fun night coming up with ideas for the Pleasure Island series – a hot exotic holiday island in the Indian Ocean, host to many a steamy liaison. We outlined thirteen stories, delighting in all the details of the little scenarios, the characters, the sex. It’s fair to say we didn’t get much sleep that night!
I wrote the first story, The Beach, in just a few days shortly followed by The Babysitter. I couldn’t stop writing. I was the characters, enjoying every one of their experiences. Sometimes, when I was on a roll, I would even write at the breakfast table. One day I was trying to finish a paragraph and didn’t realise my 15 year old son had come into the room. “What you writing?” he asked. Huh? He never takes an interest in my writing! Why couldn’t he have developed this sudden intrigue while I was penning one of my young adult novels? “Errr, just a little romance short story,” I replied, thinking he would quickly lose interest. But he kept walking closer, hovering behind me. I closed the laptop, panicked at the thought of him reading my saucy writing. That was just wrong! “Not for your eyes,” I said by way of explanation, think I had no choice but to come clean. “It’s got a bit of, err, adult content.” He smiled then, “Oh Fifty Shades of Gray hey Mum?” Oh how I laughed!
My husband has been more than supportive – he’s even coming up with ideas for stories all on his own. In fact, he’s outlined two new series – one based in an office and one in a university. We make a great team! There is no end of ideas and inspiration – I intend to write many, many more stories… I feel this is the start of something beautiful and long running!
So, eventually I got the stories finished. Luckily I am a graphic designer amongst other things so was able to create my own covers and after that setting them up on Amazon and Smashwords was simple. I’ve also set up accounts for Roxy on Twitter, Facebook, and Goodreads… and I’m starting to make some great connections, though I still have a lot to learn! It was such a delight to see my first sales notifications coming through – and then to receive emails from readers telling me how much they enjoyed the stories. Wow, what a thrill! There have been times when I’ve got confused and maintaining two personalities has been tricky… sometimes I forget who I’m logged into facebook or twitter as. I very nearly posted something highly inappropriate on my other account, the one my family and friends, my children and clients can see!
It’s all fun though, allowing myself to express this part of me. There are places where it’s okay to let Roxy and the other me get mixed up… and my husband never complains!
Okay, back to my writing, The Jacuzzi coming very soon! I do hope you’ll connect with me, either here, on twitter, facebook, or goodreads, or by sending me an email to hartroxy@yahoo.com. Have a juicy day, I know I will!
