Unicorns and Rainbows

I have had a couple of readers comment on Passion in Panama with regard to the heroine (Bernie) and her attitude toward the Panamanian people. In researching the book, I talked to several business owners in Panama upon whose experiences I based Bernie's frustration with her foreign home. As this is a work of fiction, I allowed Bernie to take on a certain sharpness that I felt was in keeping with her character and situation. She is a single mother making her way in a culture that she doesn't completely understand. She has issues. She's not real. I made her up.

These same readers seem to have missed the many references to the beauty of the country, the friendly and helpful nature of the people Bernie encountered when she moved there and the excellent care her son Spence received from the medical professionals both at his birth and later when he has the accident. Often we see only what we want to see once the panties have been bunched.

Dear readers, if all the personalities that find their way on to the pages of books were flawless angels fiction would become a pretty dull landscape. There are plenty of books 'out there' that are harshly critical of one thing or another. Bernie has a problem running her Bistro. It's a small part of her world and it wasn't meant to ignite a (mini) firestorm of righteous indignation. For the record, Panama is a lovely country with sweet and gentle people. Is it a perfect society? No. Even the local press and government recognize that the service industry there has room for some improvement. If that's the worst thing one can find about a country that says a lot.

If, as a U.S. citizen, I allowed every negative reference to a fictional citizen of the my country that appeared in a FREE book I downloaded to upset me I'd never get out of bed. A couple of ditzy (fictional) girls working in a little (fictional) restaurant does not constitute a condemnation of an entire country. A little perspective, please. When a character in a book calls some other fictional character stupid or even 'borderline retarded' she is still a fictional character making a made up statement. This fictional character is flawed. You don't have to like her. You don't have to like the book. You don't have to like me.

Dear unhappy reader, I respectfully suggest that you read the 'look inside' feature before you commit to a book. Bernie's 'tude is right there on page one. Secondly, by its nature, erotic romance tends to have sharper edges than what is called 'sweet' romance. There are lots of rainbows and unicorns out there that stay well within that happy place. My work isn't even close to the edge many of my fellow authors jump over every day. Another genre may suit you better.

I apologize for upsetting you and I am sorry you felt insulted. However, I stand by my words and my right to use them.

To satisfy any curiosity this post may have given rise to here is the comment:

"K.C. I started to read Passion Panama. The female lead described the Panamanian people in a way that I find very disturbing. I wonder if you realized that using words like retarded and stupid would be offensive to some of your readers? The female lead made insulting remarks over and over again, until it couldn't be ignored. I hope that you will explain at some point what your thoughts were."

And here is the review on Amazon:

Bear in mind that this may be the same pissed off soul.

Sea of Destiny Trilogy is Complete!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HHAOSHC

Hooked (Sea of Destiny Part 1)
Morgan Wolf is a complicated man living an uncomplicated life on a mega yacht he doesn't own. He lets women believe what they think they see. It's easier that way. No woman would want the truth he's never shared.

Lara Lamb is sailing away from what she thought she wanted. Because she wanted the wrong things and always for the wrong reason.

Lara sees Morgan for what he is: a rich, shallow Peter Pan who happens to have a cute monkey. Trouble is she's only right about the monkey.

She's everything Morgan never wanted. She makes the easy way look like the coward's way. Ready to take the chance, Morgan struggles with how to let Lara closer than anyone's ever been. Will his unspeakable wounds be too deep for her to bear?
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HHJOLB6 Wrecked (Sea of Destiny Part 2)
Where do you go when you can't run away?

Lara doesn't trust herself and Morgan can't remember when he trusted anyone.

They were sailing smoothly toward each other on a sweet voyage of discovery. Then Morgan got knocked back by a wave of panic from his past that he never got to explain.

A freak encounter with a thousand pound fish left Morgan delirious and Lara even more confused. The demons that swirl around his fevered head hint at a hell Lara is afraid to understand.

Stuck on a boat with a wounded man she no longer thinks she knows, Lara's convinced she's added another sad page to her book of mistakes.

Rescued  (Sea of Destiny Part 3)

Sometimes when everything's lost, it's just the beginning.

Tossed by a storm, torn by grief, and with his world turned upside down, Morgan clings to the one woman he knows can bring some peace into the chaos that his life has become--Lara.

It's not easy to love a complicated man. It's even harder when he builds a maze around his heart.

She's looking for answers but life just keeps throwing more questions at them both. There's a dead sister who is now alive, ashes in the ocean and a tiny grave on a lonely beach.

Lara and Morgan have learned that sorrow often follows joy and love isn't always enough to keep it in the shadows.

Two people, an ocean, a big fish and a small monkey. She doesn't trust herself and he can't remember when he trusted anyone.
(Lara) A spoiled man-whore was a bad idea even for a girl who majored in bad ideas. It was the monkey's fault I didn't take my own advice. Mrs. Dalloway caught me way off guard. She stripped him down to his bare humanity and wouldn't let me throw a blanket over that naked soul. Everything he did was contradicted by all that he was. The little white-faced princess on his shoulder never missed a chance to point that out. Mrs. D was a shameless charmer but honest to her bones. She forced me to look at the truth of him until the reality of Morgan had me hooked.
(Morgan) I agreed too quickly. I thought she'd be a punctured, tatted up, street-smart bitch with the kind of balls it took to hang in a major league pressure cooker of a go-to South Beach restaurant. The only thing I guessed right about was the 'nads. She had 'em but the package was all wrong. There were waves where I expected spikes, soft where I was looking for hard. Then she schooled me about dear dad's precious art collection and I realized street wasn't her only kind of smart. Mrs. D--who knows every wart on my blemished spirit--surprised me with a rare nod of approval. It's usually a good idea to listen when your best friend has something to say. Even if your best bud is a monkey.

Hooked (The Hunt) is a new adult romance that unfolds in a trilogy, each featuring a high energy adventure that escalates Lara and Morgan's relationship with physical and emotional challenges. It is intended for mature readers due to explicit content and language.

"Handcuffed By Her Hero"

Blurb
Between a rock and a hard place. To Sergeant Zeke Hayes, the expression has always been a non-factor. There's never been a situation he can't blast, punch, negotiate or smart-ass his way out of, which makes him the perfect fit for his Special Forces battalion--and a natural-born Dominant who's made a lot of submissives happy from Mt. Rainier to Vancouver.
That all changes when Rayna Chestain enters his world.
A rock. From the moment Z snatches Rayna from the lair of a South Asian slave trafficker, his inner grizzly roars to life with protective intensity. This is a huge damn problem, because Z isn't wired to be a one-woman man. Growing up an orphan on the streets of Seattle has taught him that beyond a few hours in a dungeon, trust means disappointment and love leads to agony. But here he is, in the remote wilderness escape he'd promised not to share with anyone, harboring Rayna from a fiend who now wants his pound of revenge flesh from her--in the form of her beating heart. Zeke will stop at nothing to keep Rayna safe, even asking his SFG brothers to join him in the fight to hold his fortress secure.
A hard place. Sheltering Rayna? Z's never done anything more right in his life. But wanting her? Dreaming of her bound body beneath him, opened for him in desire? It's the most forbidden fruit he can crave...and the only thing he can't stop thinking about.
A new beginning? This is a dead-end canyon that no rifle, bomb or sweet talk will let Zeke escape from. The only way out is to confront the reality of what Rayna has done to him...the mountain she's moved in his intractable heart.

Excerpt
“Yes, Sir.”
Saying those words for a man had never been a spark in Rayna’s mind, even after what she’d learned from Sage about the world of D/s, but right now, they felt completely natural…magical.
Because she’d uttered them for Zeke.
Because she knew what they’d do for him.
Because she needed to know what they’d do for her, too.
She thought the admission would grant her a clinical distance about this, make this threshold feel safer to jump over somehow. Yeah, and wearing a parachute made it less terrifying to hurdle out of a plane. Detachment wasn’t happening. Shivering, tremulous, nervousness and awareness, those were happening, along with the sense that as she pulled the Dopey shirt off, she wasn’t just stripping the shield to her nudity. Something significant in her mind got dropped into that puddle on the floor, too. Too late, she realized what it was. Her inner uptown girl. That horny, free, this-is-just-sex girl from Thursday night wasn’t here anymore. This wasn’t just sex anymore, either.
This was surrender.
And every cell in her body wanted it.
She stole a glance up at Zeke. It looked like he wanted it, too. Probably a little more than wanted. The observation hit her straight between the thighs…and pulled her knees to the floor in front of him.

CONGRATS to K.C. on your new release! So excited to get your new book, and I wish you all the best, sweetie!
Major shout-outs to everyone for their support of the W.I.L.D. Boys series, as well. Zeke and Rayna's story is out now, and it's quite a roller coaster. There are some books that give you bittersweet sighs once you write "The End," and this was one of them for me. I loved getting into the heads of these two, and I hope that you do, as well.

Gnome On The Range

Blurb

Winner of RomCon's 2012 Readers Crown Awards for Best Contemporary Romance and Best First Book!
The first book in the bestselling Gnome Novel Romance Series!
Once you get the zing you can’t go back.
Jane West has everything a woman could want. A job in a small Montana town’s only adult store, two busy young boys and one dead husband. Everything except a little excitement--a little zing. But that changes one summer morning at a garage sale when her kids buy some garden gnomes.
Now someone wants those gnomes and will let nothing get in their way. Including Jane. This new excitement for Jane spells trouble for a relationship with new neighbor--and hot fireman--Ty Strickland. Can Jane and Ty handle a relationship meddling mother-in-law, crazy kids, and stay alive while trying to solve the mystery of the garden gnomes?
Excerpt
Chapter One
“I’m not sure which one I want. I didn’t realize there were so many choices!”
The woman wasn’t on the hunt for a new car or juice boxes at the grocery store. Nope. She wanted a dildo. I called her type a Waffler. Someone who contemplated all options before even attempting to make a choice. Because of Miss Waffler, I had ten different dildo models spread out across the counter. Glass, silicone, jelly and battery powered. She needed help.
That’s where I came in. My name is Jane West and I run Goldilocks, the adult store in Bozeman, Montana, my mother-in-law opened back in the seventies. Story goes she named it after the fairytale character when a mother bear and her two cubs walked down Willson right in front of the store the week before it opened. She called it fate. Or it could have been because her name is Goldie, so it made sense. I started working for her when my husband died, a temporary arrangement that helped her out. Three years later, things had turned long-term temporary.
The store was tasteful considering the offerings. The walls were a fresh white, shelves and displays just like you’d find at the typical department store. Then tasteful made way for tacky. Gold toned industrial carpet like you’d see in Vegas, a photo of a naked woman sprawled artfully across a bearskin rug over the counter. A sixties chandelier graced the meager entry. Goldie had to put her unique stamp on things somehow.
It wasn’t a big store, just one room with a storage area and bathroom in back. Whatever she didn’t have in stock—although you'd be amazed at the selection Goldie offered in such a small space—we ordered in. Montanans were patient shoppers. With few options store-wise in Bozeman, most people ordered everything but the basics from the Internet. There’s one Walmart, one Target, one Old Navy. Only one of everything. In a big city, if you drove two miles you came across a repeat store. Urban sprawl at its finest. Not here, although there were two sets of Golden Arches. One in town and one off the highway for the tourists who needed a Big Mac on the way to Yellowstone. The anchor store of the town’s only mall was a chain bookstore. No Nordstrom or Bass Pro Shop out here. You shopped local or you went home.
In the case of the woman in front of me, I wished she’d just go home. Don’t get me wrong, I liked helping people and I’m comfortable talking sex toys with anyone. But this time was definitely different. Big time.
Behind Miss Waffler stood a fireman. A really attractive, tall, well muscled one wearing a Bozeman Fire T-shirt and navy pants. Can you say hot? A hot man in uniform? Yup, it was a cliché, but this one was dead-on accurate. He’d come in while I was comparing the various dildo models before I went into the perks of having rotation for best female stimulation. The first time.
“Can you explain the features of each one again?” Miss Waffler had her fingers on the edge of the glass counter as if she were afraid to touch them. Petite, she was slim to the point of anorexic. Her rough voice said smoker, at least a pack a day. Her skin was weathered, either from cigarettes or the Montana weather, and wrinkles had taken over her face. She’d be pretty if she ate something and kicked the habit.
I gave her my best fake smile. “Sure.”
I darted a glance at the fireman over the woman’s shoulder. Sandy hair trimmed military short, blue eyes, strong features. Thirties. A great smile. He seemed perfectly content to wait his turn. If the humorous glint in his eye and the way he bit his lip, most likely to keep from smiling, was any indication, he was clearly enjoying himself. A radio squawked on his belt and he turned it down. Obviously my lesson on sexual aids was more important than a five-alarm fire.
Miss Waffler was completely oblivious of, and unaffected by, the fireman. I now knew why she wanted a dildo.
I picked up a bright blue model. “This one is battery powered and vibrates. Three settings. Good for clitoral stimulation.” I put it down and picked up another. “This one is glass. No batteries, so it’s meant for penetration. The best thing about it is you can put it in the freezer or warm it and it provides a varied experience.”
The woman made some ah sounds as I gave the details. I went through all the possibilities with her one at a time. I got to the tenth and final model. “This one is obviously realistic. It’s actually molded from the erect penis of a porn star. It’s made of silicone and has suction cups on the base.” Fireman peered over the woman’s shoulder as I suction cupped the dildo to the glass counter. Thwap.
“You can attach it to a piece of furniture if you want to keep your hands free.”
Both fireman and Miss Waffler nodded their heads as if they could picture what I was talking about.
“I’ll take that one,” she said as she pointed to number ten. The eight inch Whopper Dong.
“Good choice.”
I rang up Miss Waffler’s purchase and she happily went off to take care of business.
And there he was. Mr. Fireman. And me. And dildo display made three.
“Um…thanks for waiting.” I tucked my curly hair behind an ear.
“Sure. You learn something new every day.” He smiled. Not just with his mouth, but with his eyes. Very blue eyes.
Right there, in the middle of my mother-in-law’s sex store, dildos and all, there was a spring thaw in my libido. It had long since gone as cold as Montana in January. Who could have blamed it with all of my dead husband’s shenanigans? But right then I felt my heart rate go up, my palms sweat from nerves. The fireman didn’t seem the least bit phased by my little sex toy talk. I, on the other hand, was having a hot flash like a menopausal woman just looking at him.
“I’m Jane. What can I help you with today?” Hi, I’m Jane. I’m thirty-three. I like hiking in the mountains, cross-country skiing, I’m a Scorpio, and I want to rip that uniform off your hot body. I wiped my sweaty palms on my shorts. He laughed and held out his hand. His grip was firm, his skin warm and a little rough. “Ty. Thanks, but no toys for me.” A pager beeped. He looked at it briefly and ignored it.
“Don’t you need to answer that? A fire or something?” I asked.
“Cat up a tree,” he joked.
I laughed, and heard my nerves in it. I took a deep breath to try and calm my racing heart. It didn’t work. All it did was make me discover how good he smelled. It wasn’t heavy cologne. Soap maybe. I didn’t really care if it was deodorant. He smelled fabulous.
“Actually, it was for station two. I’m here for your fire safety inspection.” He placed papers on the counter. Had he been holding them all this time? I hadn’t noticed. For the next fifteen minutes we went over fire inspection paperwork with an elephant in the room the shape of a dildo.

Excerpt:

"Are you telling me you don't want me?" I leaned into her and brought my knee up between her legs. She immediately ducked under my arm and moved beyond my reach.
"I want a lot of things. I want puppies and unicorns and a brand new BMW parked in the garage of my cottage on the beach. I want to be five-foot ten and have a rack like Beyonce."
"Other than the unicorns and the height requirement, those things can be bought." Not that I was in any position to buy them for her. Only Richard knew the arrangement I had made with my dickhead dad. I had the boat to live on, expenses paid and enough cash so that I wasn't an embarrassment to him, but about the only thing I could afford on her list was the fucking puppy. And only if she wanted one from the pound. I had carte blanche for anything remotely related to the boat. Lures were fine. Puppies and BMW's not so much. I was going to London to see if my exalted father finally found me worthy of inclusion in the family business. By now I hoped he was convinced I didn't carry my mother's special strain of madness. It was time for me to work at something more demanding than being a glorified housekeeper for a yacht."But I can't be bought." Lara started for the elevator and I caught her wrist in my hand. I could feel her pulse racing when I pulled her around to face me. The beat of her heart on her wrist felt like a captured bird."I don't want to buy you. I want to know you." I brought her close enough to smell her. Her scent was a mixture of fresh baked bread and faint floral shampoo. So feminine it made my balls ache to empty themselves inside her.  "I want to know what it's like to talk to someone who thinks about more than where the next party is.""Somehow I thought you had more than talking in mind.""I admit I do. Is that so terrible? Even if you won't say it, I will." I pressed my hips against her flat belly. I wanted her to feel my stiffening cock grow against her. "Can I make you laugh? Can I make you sigh? Can I make you beg me to do all the things a man can do to a woman?"Her mouth opened into a rosebud 'o' but she said nothing. Those feline eyes gleamed with a golden brilliance that made me know I was lost. Or found. I was having a very hard time saying what I wanted to say. There was an element of crazy in what she did to me. She was nothing I'd ever wanted and all that I ever needed. The surprise of her left me speechless. When I spoke with a kiss, I willed it to be a different sort of kiss. I wanted her to feel something unrehearsed. To kiss her with fierce honesty that demanded nothing less in return. Half expecting her to wiggle away, I drew her tighter into my body as our mouths met. When her breasts pressed into me the warmth of her soft flesh lit two circles of fire on my skin. Her lips welcomed me just long enough for me to taste her. Then she put her delicate hands against my chest and shoved me hard. I had to catch the rail at the edge of the seaport's pool to stay on my feet."What the fucking hell do you think you're doing?" The edge in her voice was as sharp as one of her knives."It's known as a kiss." "I know what it is. Have I given you any reason to think you can just force yourself on me?""I had no intention of forcing anything on you. You were giving off all the right signals.""I'm sorry, Mister Wolf, but I think you flunked the class in female semaphore. I have a feeling that the simple fact of being a woman is signal enough for you.""You said I was 'hot as hell'! You said I had 'perfect bones'." I didn't mean for it to sound whiney, but it came out that way."Did you miss everything else I said? Did you miss the part where I called you a spoiled brat? And a player?""I was hoping I could change your mind.""With the mind-blowing awesomeness of your kisses? I think not. I told you I can't be bought. And working for you as a 'cook' doesn't mean you own me either.""Forgive me for thinking you might be attracted to me.""I am attracted to you. Who wouldn't be? But being shallow isn't one of my many issues. I'm also repulsed."

Baby Stetson

Blurb
In small Texas towns, strangers come and go...
Left in a Stetson hat, on the steps of the local bed and breakfast, Avery Callimer came into the world on a wing and a prayer. Raised by loving adoptive parents, she’s never lacked for love ... only the knowledge of her past.
By day she works at the inn, but by night ... Avery comes alive as lead singer in a band. Life was good ... stable, until new guests blew into town.
Some strangers come with secrets and lies.
Lucas Bennett is one such stranger. Drifting from one mess to another has left him jaded. Doesn’t matter the dramas are never his doing. Giving it one last shot to make a fresh start lands him Harmony’s Echo, Texas and smack dab in front of the tantalizing Avery.
Despite his best efforts to ignore the burn Avery’s ignited within, he’s intent to keep his distance. Secrets have followed him. Secrets he doesn’t want Avery to know.
Each time they’re near the other, things heat up like a brushfire on a dry Texas prairie.
But maybe, after the dust settles and the smoke clears, love can bloom with a fresh start.

Excerpt
Avery lifted her eyebrows. “What, you thought I’d come to your room in the middle of the night, a raging lunatic and demand to know why you kissed me and ran off?” The image caught her off guard, and a giggle escaped her throat.
The corners of Lucas’s lips lifted, then he looked down, chuckling. “Well, if you’d have done that, we could have finished what we started.”
Zing! Heat brewed in her belly, sending her into a fit of odd sensations.
“I’ll have to keep that in mind.”
“Oh? Is that a threat, or a promise?” Lucas grinned, leaning closer.
“You know, you probably shouldn’t be flirting with an innkeeper’s daughter. Because if you mess with me a little too much, I may have to clog your toilet or something,” Avery teased. She loved it, but if anyone walked in right now and saw this...
Lucas reached out and clamped her hand in his. “Bring it on, and you’ll see if you won’t end up in my bed, suffering my wrath. Or enjoying it, whichever comes first.” His eyes bore into hers, an intensity so strong it gave Avery goosebumps. Lucas noticed this, took advantage and trailed a finger up her arm, only agitating the goosebumps and making them grow bigger. Avery pulled her arm away and backed up, still watching Lucas. He licked his lips, his tongue darting out as if he was trying to tease her. Oh, good gracious this man was like the devil!

Hard to Handle

Blurb
The chemistry between horse wranglers Bailey French and Hondo Labar was hot enough to singe the air even before their unexpected meeting at Rawhide, a private bondage club. Their extreme edge play at the club feeds their sexual needs, but Hondo wants a relationship outside the club and Bailey refuses to acknowledge him as more than a fellow wrangler. When a riding accident puts her in his care, can she finally trust her heart as well as her body to a man who would Master her forever?

Excerpt
Bailey shredded the hunk of bread in her fingers.
“You heard me turn down Hondo and Dan today, right?”
Liz nodded. “That’s why I thought it would be a good idea for us to have dinner and discuss the situation.”
Bailey frowned. “I don’t understand.”
“This isn’t an easy life you’ve chosen. You work hard. You need time to play. If not here, then someplace where you feel comfortable. It took me a long time to figure that out.”
Bailey fiddled with her wine glass, trying to decide exactly how much she could tell this woman. Liz was easy to talk to but she was, after all, the boss. And she didn’t feel comfortable just blurting out that she was a hard-core sub looking for a Dom who didn’t abuse the privilege. Or run away from it.
“I hear you,” she finally said. “But finding the right people isn’t always that easy.”
The other woman studied her. “I know you came here from Phoenix, but I guess I thought you had friends in the area. Something that drew you here. I probably should have asked at the time.”
“Why would you?” Bailey took a fortifying sip of her wine. “My personal circumstances aren’t your worry.”
Something dark flared in Liz’s eyes for a moment. But it was gone so fast Bailey wondered if she’d imagined it. Did Liz come here to get away from a problem, too?
“Maybe I sense a kindred spirit.” Liz said the words quietly, almost tentatively.
Bailey lifted an eyebrow. “In what way? Were you—I mean—“
“Running from something? In a way.”
The waiter appeared with their salads, momentarily interrupting their conversation. Bailey forked up a piece of lettuce and chewed it slowly, waiting for Liz to continue. They chewed in silence for a few seconds before Liz spoke again.
“There were—are—things in my life that I had a hard time handling. Even understanding. Needs that I had.” She paused, took a moment to chew another bite of salad. “It made my life…complicated.” The direct look she gave Bailey was honest and assessing. “I sense you might be dealing with the same thing, Bailey. If I’m wrong, I apologize, and we can pretend this conversation never happened.”
“You mean in isolating myself?”
“I mean,” Liz said, “in the things that enrich your life. Not just friendships but sex. People talk about men’s needs all the time, but they never think that could apply to women.”
Bailey stared at her, stunned that Liz brought the subject up. Sex? She’s talking to me about sex? What do I say to that? How do I answer her?
All she could do was repeat the word. “Sex. You think I need sex.”
Liz Wright burst out laughing, a friendly sound, not a belittling one. “Bailey, almost everyone needs sex of one kind or another. It’s part of the human psyche.” She leaned forward again. “Unless you have a problem of some kind, it’s really not healthy to go without it for a long time. And I don’t see you as the kind of woman who doesn’t enjoy it.”
Bailey’s eyes widened. “Do I have some kind of sign on my back? You think I’ll do something to embarrass the ranch? And you?”
Liz shook her head. “No. That’s not it at all. I’m doing this very badly.” She sighed. “I went without for a long time after I was hired at the Lucky L. Not because the opportunities didn’t present themselves. As with you, every one of the hands eyed me with a lot of speculation. And I think the single men in town were making bets who would be the first one to break the ice.”
“Holy crap!” She shook her head, as much at the bluntness of the conversation as at the realization that the so-in-control Liz Wright had suffered the same things she did. “I guess I never…” She stopped, not wanting to be discourteous.
“Thought I was in that situation?” Liz smiled. “Or that I had sex?”
Bailey’s face heated. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—’
“It’s okay. Let yourself off the hook, Bailey. I understand what you’re saying.” She took a swallow of her wine. “Sometimes,” she said slowly, “it isn’t just the sex but the kind of sex that keeps you isolated.”
Bailey froze. Was it possible… “Kind of sex?”
Liz nodded. “I’m not sharing this with you lightly, Bailey. I’m doing it only because I sense a similar spirit here. I hope I won’t regret this.” She paused. “Some people might say my sexual needs are dark. Off the beaten path. Even unacceptable. For me and many others with the same desires, the elements of the BDSM lifestyle are as normal as breathing. But in a conservative community like this, one can’t exactly go out and ask where the nearest dungeon is or who’s into bondage.”
Bailey almost swallowed her tongue. Liz Wright was into BDSM?
Holy shit!

Guest Post
The cowboy is such a romantic soul
Every culture needs legends and heroes; the Cowboy is one of America's best. We see honor, leadership, integrity, hard work, strength and freedom in the cowboy. We envy the simplicity of his long day's labor and the wide-open spaces he roams. Little boys want to grow up to be him, and many little girls want to grow up and marry him. He contains the last vestiges of wildness allowed in the new millennium, and as much as our country changes, he remains the same. America needs the Cowboy both to remind us of how far we have come and to bring us back to the simplicity of the values he represents.
From Zane Grey to Linda Lael Miller, authors have painted the cowboy as sexy, romantic, virile, the ultimate alpha male. He ropes horses, fights bad guys, wears jeans that hug him like a second skin and sweeps women off their feet. He dances the Texas Two-Step and the waltz with equal ease, sips aged bourbon or ice cold beer with equal aplomb and can shoot a target dead center from a thousand feet. I mean, what’s not to love?
I live in one of the greatest places of the world, the Texas Hill Country, where I am surrounded by ranches. On a frosty morning I can see the quintessential cowboy mounted on his horse, buttoned into his sheepskin-lined jacket, his Stetson pulled low over his forehead to shield his eyes from the rising son, thighs clenched against the flanks of his mount as he urges him forward after a recalcitrant calf or a wandering cow. He is the idol of dreams, the star of fantasies, as he rides with a smooth gait across the acres of pasture rolling off toward the horizon.
And then, of course, at the end of the day, with the dust of the land showered from his body, he makes mad, passionate, exquisite love to the woman of his heart. Or in some case, the many women of his heart! And this is why I make the cowboy the central figure in so many of my stories.
