Book research trip to Alicante

Just back from a very rewarding eight-day book research trip (for a future Jon Reznick thriller, HARD SILENCE) to Alicante in south east Spain. It’s a truly fascinating and beautiful city. Its Centro district packed with bars, tapas bars on narrow streets alongside the ancient Old Town will live long in the memory.

Among the highlights was a visit to Castillo de Santa Barbara (Alicante Castle) which dominates the city skyline, the beautiful basilicas, MACA Contemporary Art Museum of Alicante with fantastic paintings by Miro amongst others, the palm-lined Playa del Postiguet beach, classic tapas bars like Manero Molla and the Esplanade bordering the Marina.

But like most great cities, it also has its grittier side, which Reznick will no doubt be exploring in HARD SILENCE.

Alicante’s history goes back thousands of years. In Roman times, in the neighbourhood of what is now Albufereta, stands the ruins of what was Alicante’s predecessor city, known as Lucentum.

Here’s a few images I’d like to share from my visit.

Hard Shadows

From bestselling author J. B. Turner comes a thrilling mission for Jon Reznick. A top CIA officer locked in a psychiatric ward. A false flag operation targeting American lives. A conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of government.

Black-ops specialist Jon Reznick is in New Orleans when he gets an urgent call. Stephen Leahy, a senior CIA operations director, is being held in a psychiatric hospital in Maryland—and he says he has uncovered a chilling government plan.

The operation: stage attacks on American oil companies in Guyana, blame Venezuela’s government, and launch an invasion to seize their vast oil reserves.

Reznick is sceptical—until Leahy’s father mysteriously drowns after learning the truth. Now, with assassins closing in and time running out, Reznick must expose the conspiracy before hundreds of innocent Americans are sacrificed for a lie.

In Washington, the truth is the most dangerous weapon of all. But Washington hasn’t met Jon Reznick—and he’s about to become their worst nightmare.

London visit December 2025

Thought I’d share a few photos of a terrific two-night trip to London.

I had lunch with my wonderful editor Maisie Lawrence at Andrew Edmunds restaurant in Soho. In the evening, a trip to the theatre for a production of John Le Carre’s The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (which was immense).

Tuesday enjoyed meeting up with my editorial and marketing team at Amazon Publishing HQ in Shoreditch, along with meeting some great authors. And off to Quo Vadis, Dean Street, Soho for an amazing dinner.

Have a great Festive season.

All best,

J.B. Turner

Delighted to learn that my first Jon Reznick thriller, HARD ROAD, has sold more than 500,000 copies since it was first published way back in 2016. Thanks to all my loyal readers and Amazon Publishing for all their hard work and enthusiasm for this thriller series, all down the line.

The series has developed over the last eight years and in total there have been more than THREE MILLION sales of my books so far.

The most recent Reznick thriller, HARD DUTY, just released on 3 October, is already heading up to the bestseller charts.

And for that, a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported my books down the years.

Hard Exit

From bestseller J. B. Turner comes a pulse-pounding thriller that will keep you guessing until the end.

When a Swiss intelligence agent goes missing, taking with him thousands of classified documents that have the potential to expose covert agents and information around the world, he also threatens to expose the one secret that will change Jon Reznick’s life forever.

Hans Muller has found someone on Swiss CCTV footage, someone who is supposed to be dead, someone from long ago in Reznick’s past. If her true identity is as Muller suspects and if he divulges her secret, it could be dangerous for her and her loved ones, not to mention disastrous for national security.

In a shocking twist of fate, the mysterious woman looks exactly like Jon Reznick’s wife, who was thought to have died in the 9/11 attacks. Reznick has to find out: Is this just a case of mistaken identity or has Elisabeth been alive all this time?

Facing impossible questions, Reznick jumps into an international fray with Swiss Intelligence agents and the CIA to find the missing classified documents, and his own answers. Anyone who knows Jon Reznick knows he won’t rest until he finds out the truth, even if it upends his life as he knows it.

Long Way Home

Long Way Home  is an action-packed new thriller from bestselling author J. B. Turner and the follow-up to the electric  No Way Back .

When Jack McNeal threw Henry Graff’s body in the reservoir, he thought he had closed the book on Graff and his nefarious associates. But when Graff’s body is exhumed from the water, McNeal’s troubles really begin. Plagued by flashbacks and nightmares from his murderous past and unable to move on from the tragic deaths of his wife and young son, McNeal is on the verge of a breakdown.

On the hunt for the mysterious “Woodcutter,” the man at the center of this whole conspiracy, McNeal uncovers a web of political intrigue that goes all the way to the White House. But the conspirators don’t want McNeal digging.

As he and his family are targeted by the same shadowy security consultancy that was responsible for his wife’s death, McNeal will stop at nothing to bring those responsible to justice, even if that means becoming the bad guy he swore he would never be.
