Great Things a' Happinin' !

Lately, I have had interviews and appearances one after another. My book, Piercing the Veils of Death is rapidly climbing the charts.

A great deal of interest is now beginning to buzz through the air about my next book, Dr. H. H. Holmes and the Whitechapel Ripper. How exciting to be making history and more importantly, "in" history. Dr. H. H. Holmes and the Whitechapel Ripper will be out in the Fall of 2013.

Additionally, I am honored to be included in a collaborating project of established authors penning a true-crime anthology to be released later this year. What a celebration of talent and an esteemed tribute to be invited to such a prestigious group.

There is little time for sleep and play, but I adore my research and writing projects -- what's not to love!

Hope you and yours are living a dream, I am - as it is my life's quest!

Hurry Up and Waste Not!

A few weeks ago, I realized a dream -- I published a book. Following a year of research and revising draft after draft, I submitted what I thought was the perfect manuscript.

When I say submitted, I am not talking about sending it out to a publisher, as I am an independent author, I submitted to the distributor. I thought that was the end result of tedious process and I would now reap the benefits of my labors. Was I in for a surprise.

After uploading the pdf file, excited beyond imagination, I made a grave mistake, I ordered an entire case of books without proofreading the "finished" copy.

The books arrived a week later. I was totally embarrassed. It seems I over estimated my printers abilities. The fonts on the cover were illegible and there were several formatting (and grammatical) errors in my prized work.

I spent the next several days frantically making corrections and resubmitting files (and proofreading) to make sure I was sending out a quality product.

It is now two weeks later, I have a case of books chock-full of mistakes awaiting my fireplace, and I have sacrificed sleep and precious time away from promoting my book, all in the name of excitement. I should have taken my time!

I suppose I should be grateful over 500 copies of my book (of mistakes and errors) sold the first weekend it was available to the public. But right is right and I will be replacing several copies with the correct revised edition.

One thing is certain, my next book, I will take my sweet time, after all, the entire reason I write the book is for the reader, not for me to see my name on a piece of paper!

The End
