I knew I wanted to write a book about water, ships, and a lighthouse. A lot of ideas also came from lyrics from Elton John's "Tumbleweed Connection". It's an incredible album, and the river, military, and family themes in Bernie Taupin's lyrics really stuck with me. (less)
