Goddess Series Update
We’re just days away from the Goddess Series Bundle Special going on sale for $0.99! I’m so excited about this! I have lots of things happening on the writer front, so I’m going to take a quick break and give y’all an update.
Most importantly…I’m finally putting all the books in the Goddess Series into print! Only the first one has been available because so much other stuff has been going on that I had to put print possibilities on the backburner. I’m ready to move forward with this. HOWEVER, I’ve decided to have all the books re-edited before any new editions surface. The extent of this editing is unknown at this point. I don’t anticipate there being any changes to the stories themselves. This edit is mainly for typos and goofs that weren’t caught by my pervious editor and proofreader (and beta reader…and myself…and…you get the point). When I originally drafted the first several books, they were written in first person, but since I decided to write a spinoff series before I even finished writing the Goddess Series, I decided to change the person to third. I should’ve NEVER done this. It was a tedious process that netted me errors that weren’t even there to begin with! But hindsight is 20/20 and all that. I sincerely hope having my current editor (who is fantastic!!) work her magic will finally rid the manuscripts of those lingering issues.
Also, since the covers were created for ebooks, I have to have the covers modified for print. I’m going to take this time to brand them a little better. The changes might not be major, but since we’re talking 6 ebook covers, 6 print layout covers, and one 3-d (plus one flat ebook) cover for the bundle, it’ll still be a lot of work. These two things (another edit and fresh art across the board) will cost lots of money (remember, this is for 6 books…it’ll run me in the thousands of dollars to get this done). It is my hope that the edits and art will be finished by the first of June, and I can start releasing the print versions of these books this summer. Once this is done, I’ll be looking into foreign translations and audio books.
Secondly…If you’re following me on Facebook, you know I’m writing the first book in the New Pantheon Order (the spinoff I mentioned above). I’ve already been asked by several readers how soon it’ll be out. I honestly don’t know. Because of the interest in the Goddess Series (film and television rights, etc.), I’ve decided I’m going to let my agent shop the spinoff to U.S. publishers. If I reach an acceptable agreement with one, the release date will be determined by the publisher. If I don’t sign with a publisher on this series, I still don’t know when I’ll start releasing those book. As it stands now, I anticipate there being at least three books in that series, but if I sign with a publisher for this project, that number could change. We’ll just have to take this one step at a time…but as I learn info, I’ll share it.
So there you have it… a quick update on where things are going. Thanks again for all your support, and if you love the Goddess Series, please spread the word about the Bundle Special. It’ll only be on sale for a very limited time (and it includes a never before release bonus short story)!

Goddess Series Bundle Special Coming!
I’ve wanted to do this for a while, and I’ve finally found the time to make it happen. On April 21st, you will be able to get the first four books in the Goddess Series–Goddess Legacy, Goddess Secret, Goddess Sacrifice, and Goddess Revenge–for one low price! Not only that, but this Goddess Series Bundle Special includes a bonus short story, Goddess Dream! Even more exciting? The first two weeks, this bundle will be at a crazy low price! Why? I wanted people who’ve already read and loved the series to be able to read the bonus special without forking over the retail price of the boxed set. That means for two weeks, everybody wins! Mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss out.
****Please note, you might start seeing this bundle live (not pre-order) before the 21st. BUT priced at $9.99. This is NOT the retail price. It will be lower than this (and the two week special will be MUCH lower). The reason I went ahead and started the upload process is so I can get links for my reviewers and promo spots scheduled starting 4/21 through 5/3. I’ve done pre-orders before, but reviewers can’t leave a review until it’s live. I want to hit the ground running on 4/21. So if you see the boxed set available before this date, ignore it. You will be wasting money!

Limited Time New Years Sale!
Hi, y’all! I’ve been so busy writing that the New Year has sneaked up on me. To help celebrate an awesome 2013 and ring in 2014 the right way, I’ve decided to run a short special on book 2 AND book 3, GODDESS SECRET and GODDESS SACRIFICE, in the Goddess Series! Starting Wednesday 1/1/2014 you can get them for $0.99 each! This is a heck of a deal, and it will only last a few days. Book 1, GODDESS LEGACY, is still free, but will not remain that way indefinitely. If you’ve read them and love them, tell your friends so they can get three amazing books for less than $2.00!
I’m also working on a bundle to be released soon. I’m very excited about this, too. I’ll have more information as it comes available in the coming weeks. Why can’t I share just yet?? Hmmm…well, there just might be some bonus material never before seen for those of you who’ve already read the series and can’t get enough.

Giving Goddess Love
Hi y’all. Today I’m opening up my blog to the wonderful author Kaitlin Bevis who also writes books based on Greek Mythology. She has the Daughters of Zeus series with her own take on the myths that created both of our muses. We’re both explaining the twists we took to create our worlds while showing how we stayed true to the core of the myths. Below is Kaitlin’s explanation in her own words…enjoy.
Persephone Myth:
In the original Persephone myth, Kore, the goddess of Spring, was a beautiful goddess and would have had many suiters had her mother, Demeter, goddess of agriculture, not kept her hidden away from the other gods. One day Kore went to a meadow to pick narcissus flowers, lilacs, poppies, or some other flower depending on the source with some nymphs when Hades, God of the Underworld spotted her and decided he wanted her for his wife. He burst through the earth (in some versions, Gaia, goddess of Earth assists him) in his creepy black chariot of death, and dragged Kore into the Underworld. After her rape/marriage, Kore became known as Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld.
Demeter, goddess of Agriculture and Persephone’s mother, searched frantically for her daughter, neglecting her duties as a goddess and plunging the earth into famine. Helios, god of the sun, or in some versions Persephone’s nymph friends, tell Demeter what happened and Demeter begged Zeus to rescue their daughter.
At first Zeus told Demeter she should be pleased to have such a high ranking son-in-law, but eventually he relented since too many people were starving to worship him properly, and sent Hermes to liberate Persephone so long as she had not consumed food or drink in he Underworld.
Meanwhile, Persephone was tricked into eating 3-7(depending on the version) pomegranate seeds by the god Ascalapus, Hades’ gardener. Ascalapus got turned into a screech owl in retribution for his crime, and Persephone was forced to return to the Underworld for a month every year for each seed she ate. While she is home with her mother, plants grow, but during her time in the Underworld every year they die. This myth is considered an explanation for winter.
Why did her name change?
Changing a gods name to reflect a change in their divine role was not uncommon. In Persephone’s case she doesn’t even get a name until she’s important. Kore translated to girl, or maiden.
Persephone has a variety of other names and titles within her cult the Eleusinian Mysteries.
Why a pomegranate?
The pomegranate is known as the fruit of the dead as well as a symbol for fertility, and thanks to the little crown on the top of a pomegranate is a symbol of royalty. So it’s easy to see why it was chosen as symbol in the Persephone myth. You’ve got royalty for the new Queen of Spring/fertility of the dead. When you cut it open is naturally divided into three to six sections depending on the fruit. It is full of tiny little seeds covered in a blood red juice.
While the Persephone myth is the most well known example of using a Pomegranate for symbolism, way back when, this weird little fruit found its way into a variety of stories across cultures.
Why does it matter what flower Persephone was picking?
The flower chosen in the myth kind of sets the tone for the whole story. The narcissus flower for instance is commonly seen as a phallic symbol, and a symbol of unrequited love, and as a portent for death, so you’ve got some foreshadowing, and loss of innocence going there. Other flowers symbolize different things that the story teller may be trying to get across.
What did I change?
I tried to stay true to the spirit of the original myth in my version of the story. Several of the key elements remained, but framed differently. My version is set in modern day. Persephone believes she’s a normal, somewhat sheltered, girl. She discovers she’s a goddess after catching the attention of a sadistic deity named Boreas, the God of Winter (winter winds, technically). Hades rescues her by taking her to the Underworld.
The idea that Hades may not have been the bad guy has been toyed with in popular culture throughout my entire life (Beauty and the Beast anyone?) so it’s logical, and certainly not original, to consider that Hades may have just been misunderstood. Choosing Boreas as the antagonist made sense because there is a very similar story in Greek mythology involving Boreas abducting a Greek princess. In my mind, it fit really well. Boreas is a repeat offender, AND he’s strongest during the winter. It made complete sense for Persephone to have to hide during those months.
I made other changes as well, the Underworld is a pretty nice place, and Persephone is free to come and go as she pleases. Orpheus is a rock star. Small things to add layers to a world where many of the myths we know so well haven’t happened yet.
Why rewrite the Persephone myth?
That myth has never really vanished or fallen out of fashion. It resonates with us for some reason. If you studied any mythology at all in school, you learned the Persephone myth. I think part of it is, if you take the myth at face value, it’s unspeakable. We want to fix this poor girl’s fate. Another draw is that the Persephone myth seems incomplete. In other myths you get a bit of characterization for the key players. Zeus’s personality and wants and needs come across crystal clear in every single myth he’s a part of. But Hades and Persephone both are ambiguous in this myth. We learn a lot about Demeter, and her devotion as a mother, but not so much about Persephone. I wanted to know what happened down there. So I wrote my own version.

There are worse things than death, worse people too.
The “talk” was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they’re a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn’t until Boreas, the god of winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.

Books to Movies Blog Hop
A little known thing about me…the first time I read Twilight was right before the third movie was released in theaters. I’ve been writing for years, but usually write adult books (I publish erotica under another name). I’d had an idea for a younger audience series and didn’t want anything in that genre to taint my muse, so I’d gone against the usual advice of authors—read as much as you can in a genre before you write in it—in favor of reading only obscure pieces (or just reading whatever I wanted).
That goal came to a crashing halt when I was at my sister’s house for my niece’s birthday party. Twilight was playing on cable in the background while my mom and I chatting about General Hospital. When Edward stopped the van, we (and the other people in the room) stopped what we were doing and stared at the TV, mesmerized. Somebody asked what it was, and my sister explained it. Knowing I’d missed the beginning but was now into it, I stopped at the store on my way home and bought the first one. I ordered pizza and started watching it. When it was over, I checked On-Demand features and rented the second one. I didn’t go to bed until after 1:00 that night.
It still wasn’t enough. Since the last two movies weren’t out yet, I threw caution to the wind and bought all of the books in the series. I spent a week reading them, and realized lots of details had been left out. As “they” say, the books were better than the movies. But I might not have read the books then had I not seen the movie clip. Who knows if I’d have ever read them otherwise? As I’ve mentioned, I write erotica also, but I’ve never read Fifty Shades of anything…and I was even asked my opinion of it during an interview for my local paper. Whoops. But who knows… Maybe I’ll see the movie and finally get those books, too.
Have you ever seen a movie first and THEN read the book? Which was better? Don’t forget to enter my contest. You can go here http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/a5eb531/ for entry options. Since I tend to see movies before reading the book, I’m going to giveaway two of my favor movies that were originally books: THE PRINCESS BRIDE and BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY. Love them!! And since Hollywood came knocking after the first book in my Goddess Series, GODDESS LEGACY reached number one in Teen Romance, I’m going to give away a signed copy of that (but no fear… you can download the ebook for FREE for a limited time at your favorite ebook retailer).
And don’t forget to visit the other blogs and see what cool prizes you can win!

Clean Your Shelf Giveaway Hop ~ GENA SHOWALTER Signed Book!
Enter to win a signed copy of THE DARKEST SEDUCTION by GENA SHOWALTER and a signed copy of GODDESS LEGACY, Goddess Series Book One, by M.W. MUSE (That’s me, people…the ebook reached Number ONE in Teen Romance and is FREE right now, so get it while you can)! I’m also giving away a couple of Harlequin books from my stash.
This blog hop couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Seriously, I’m scheduled to close on my new house before this hop is over! I’ve been going through so much stuff and wondering why I still have it. I think as the years fly by, we accumulate things and don’t even realize how much junk—er…I mean prized possessions—we acquire. It’s time to clean out these closets and start fresh. If you hear crying in the background, please ignore…or send chocolate.
One thing I know I buy too much of is shoes. I will never wear all the shoes I own, but when I see a great sale, I feel like I can justify the purchase just in case I need them. Picture me gawking at some high heels (I don’t wear these on regular occasions), thinking, “These are so cute, I’m sure I have a dress that will go with these (I normally don’t wear dresses, either).” Buuuut, I love saving 90% on sandals at the end of summer or 75% on boots when winter is over. It’s hard to pass those opportunities by. You know what I’m talking ’bout, ladies.
But when it comes to books, I know I have a serious weakness. I should just start a tab at Barnes and Noble for them to charge my purchases against my royalties before paying me my income. It’d save us both a lot of time and our banks grief from moving money back and forth between our accounts. And when the library has sales? Oh lawd! I think the people two towns over can her my brakes locking up when I pass the $0.50 used books sale sign.
So now you know some of my weaknesses, let’s hear about yours. What are you not ashamed to admit you have a hoarder’s syndrome for?
To enter the contest, all you have to do is 1. Sign up for my newsletter (You can click on the icon on the left to get to the form or “Like” me on Facebook and signup there) AND 2. Comment on this post. You must do both to be eligible (So I know those who subscribed during this time actually participated in the hop). Good luck!
And Don’t forget to hop around and click on the other links for other great books!

Win a Signed Copy of WALKING DISASTER by NYT Bestselling author JAMIE MCGUIRE, a signed copy of GODDESS LEGACY, and a $50 Gift card!
I had so much fun at Romcon meeting new and catching up with other authors. I grabbed as many signed books as I could…and since I was booked up, it was hard to get away from my events to play fan girl… but I managed to sneak away from time-to-time. The result? I have awesome goodies to start giving away under both my pen names!
Since GODESS LEGACY is free everywhere and I have some promo events scheduled this month, I decided to start with one of the few N/A books I grabbed, and who better than NYT Bestselling author JAMIE MCGUIRE to get this party started right? This contest will consist of a signed copy of WALKING DISASTER by her, in addition to a signed copy of GODDESS LEGACY (Goddess Series Book One), and a $50 gift card to Amazon or B&N. This contest is only live through the end of the month. You can enter via my Fan Page by going here: https://www.facebook.com/mwmuse.author/app_228910107186452
If you haven’t liked my Fan Page yet, now’s the time… I have more wonderful giveaways planned throughout the year.
And please spread the word about GODDESS LEGACY being free! On my way home from the convention, I had something extraordinary happen to me regarding this series. I can’t share yet, but it was one of the few moments in my life where I was completely speechless…and totally freaking out at the same time.

Goddess Legacy FREE…and Book Six Release Date!
I’d already drafted a wonderfully eloquent blog post for this announcement, but in my haste to get ready for my vacation last week, I deleted it. Grrrr… Here’s attempt number 2:
If you’ve liked my FB Fan page (and if not, why not???), then you already know that I’m in the process of moving all the books in the Goddess Series to other retailers. However, Book one, GODDESS LEGACY, will be available for FREE indefinitely once it hits stores. Yes, I’m making the first book in the series free. It’s already on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, ARe, Kobo, Sony eReader, etc. I’ve thought long and hard on this decision, and I have a couple of reasons why I am doing this:
First, the five days Amazon allowed me to list it as free during the KDP Select promotion, it received over 20,000 downloads. Totally amazing. I was so blown away by that, and still am. Do I expect everyone who downloaded it to read it? No. Do I expect everybody who does read it to like it? No. But I’ve gotten so many emails from people who’d never heard of me and grabbed it while it was free who absolutely loved it. The book being free exposed the whole series to potential new readers, so rather than funnel a ton of money into marketing the whole series once it’s everywhere, I’d rather take the loss of income and hope the freebie entices enough readers that the gamble pays off. If not, I still feel more comfortable with me taking the gamble of releasing a free book versus readers taking a gamble of paying for book one and not liking it. As a reader, I know what it’s like to spend my money and not enjoy the book. As a writer, I want to alleviate that gamble for you.
Second, so many people helped me spread the word about this series and also helped me with some issues early on. This has been a huge learning experience for me. I set out to release six books within six months and I’m literally a week away from reaching that goal. I don’t think I’ll ever do anything this extensive again (maybe with novellas, not long and short novels). I know my editor has probably cussed me out several times over the last few months. LOL! Anyway, it’s because of all the help that I just want to say thanks with this free book. Which leads me to the other decision I made about this series…
The rest of the books will remain priced at $2.99. Yay!!! Okay, this might not seem like big news, but when I’d originally started mapping everything out last year, my intent was to increase the price to $3.99 on all books (with no freebie) once the KDP Select period was over. I still plan on adopting the pricing structure I’d researched ($2.99 for novellas and $3.99 for novels) on other projects, but I just don’t want to do it for the Goddess Series. Why? Well, what about all of you who paid for book one? I don’t want to turn around and then make you pay more for the other books if you haven’t purchased them yet. That just doesn’t seem fair to me. At least keeping the prices at the intro rate, I’m still saving you $5 over the rest of the books. That’s enough to buy something else… and I’m all about stretching the dollar.
Of course things could always change. I do tend to overanalyze things.
But for now, that’s the game plan. So if you liked the Goddess Series, tell your friends to grab the freebie and let them decide for themselves if they want to read about Legacy’s journey. Speaking of her journey, book six, GODDESS BOUND is scheduled to hit Amazon on June 14!

For The Love of Mythology Blog Hop
It’s time for the Love of Mythology Giveaway Blog Hop. Wooo hooo!! Okay, okay, enough of the hoopin’ and hollerin’… Let’s get down to the good stuff.
I love mythology. Even more, I love all the stories and material that gets the plot bunnies breeding. When I started working on my Young Adult/Adult fantasy series several years ago… before we had the term “New Adult”, I knew I wanted to have a strong female lead. Of course, she could be flawed… in fact, she needed to be, but at the time, I was so tired of all those stories where the hero would swoop in at the last minute and save the day. I remember thinking, why did a character have to have a set of balls to be the savior. Granted, a “hero” by definition is a man. Yeah, yeah, okay, I know that. But I wanted a chick in the limelight…but I still wanted hot guys. I’m not crazy. *smiles devilishly*
It took years, but eventually my female lead, Legacy, was born. Of course, she’s a goddess… well, she’s going to be if she survives her ascension. There are hot gods, too, but Legacy will be powerful in her own right when she ascends. It’s a completely different spin on the Persephone myth, but with enough nods to the real deal that those of you who studied Greek Mythology will connect the dots—and still leave you guessing.
Okay, I’ve rambled enough about wanting a strong female lead, now it’s time to tell you about book one in the series. Oh, and it’s free everywhere right now (except for Amazon… still waiting for them to update it), so don’t hesitate to download your copy today! And if you’re like me and are addicted to Amazon’s One-Click crack, then click on the option to notify them of the lower price, and maybe that’ll light a fire under them.
Legacy Kore is an average seventeen year old with your basic insane crush on the hottest guy in school… rather Adin Shepard was the hottest guy in school before he graduated a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s summer vacation and she’s not sure when she’ll get to see him again. Until he shows up at her surprise seventeenth birthday party. Cue saliva glands–it’s time to drool.
But her giddiness is cut short when her guardian delivers an emotional blow, telling Legacy her mother hadn’t died when she was baby, but that she’d left for Legacy’s protection all those years ago. After the initial shock, she expects some story about how her mother was in the Witness Protection Program or something else just as crazy, but when she’s told that her mother is a Greek Goddess and that Legacy is changing into one too, she thinks her guardian needs a trip to a mental hospital. Legacy a goddess? Um, yeah. Right. And her BFF is the Easter Bunny.
While trying to make sense out of something that was impossible to believe, Adin asks Legacy out on a date. She is thrilled that her fantasy might become a reality, but when she meets the new guy in town, River, she discovers everything isn’t always as it seems, and the legacy she wants just might not be the legacy she is destined to have.
