Which Book Reviewers Do You Trust?
Everybody has their favorite reviewers they trust enough to try out reading--or even buying--a new book that gets a thumbs up review. For the older mysteries and crime fiction titles, I rely on Anthony Boucher's (1911-68) reviews. My reading tastes in the classic noir and hardboiled books run similar to his. For Southern literary fiction selections, I used to follow Jonathan Yardley's reviews back when he reviewed fiction. James Reasoner, Bill Crider, and Ed Gorman review books on their respective blogs I enjoy reading. Review outlets like Bookgasm and Elizabeth White's Musings of the All Purpose Monkey are helpful, as well. I like to hang out on twitter to see when reviews of books I might like to read get posted. I also like to leave a comment or thank you for the reviewer. Goodreads is a robust forum where readers share comments and reviews. That's what I do for finding my reviews.
Happy reading to you and yours!
