My 2011 Goodreads Reading Challenge
I've just reached the halfway point (37/65) in my Goodreads reading challenge, and it's May, so I'm still on target and schedule. At least that's as of today.
My last book was The Last Picture Show which has lingered in my mind since I finished it. That doesn't usually happen to me. I like it when a novel does that. Anyway, the coming of age story set in pre-Korean War Texas has memorable characters.
Since I haven't seen the 1971 movie from start to finish, I don't have the cast of actors to distort the fictional ones. Except for Cybill Shepherd who seemed just right for the Jacy part. I suppose we've all known a Jacy--rich, snobbish, gorgeous--at some time in our life.
Right now I'm reading Michael Connelly's The Lincoln Lawyer AFTER we saw the movie. H'm. Maybe next time I'll read the book first. But I'm enjoying TLL very much, I must say.

How Is Your Reading Pulse Going?
Goodreads tells me I've read 40 out of a 65 for my 2011 Books Read Challenge. I could've set a higher number, but I'd no way of foretelling how much time I'd get to devote to reading books.
If I'd my druthers in a perfect world, I'd read several books a week. It seemed like I did that on summer vacations.
Or I'd go into a reading funk. Ever get one of those? One day it just doesn't ring your bell to pick up a book (or Kindle) and read it.
Happy reading in your neck of the world.

My 2011 Goodreads Reading Challenge
Okay, I've been on a reading jag of late. That's a positive thing here, right? According to my Goodreads tracker, I've read 44 books of the 65 I projected to finish in 2011. Goodreads also tells me I'm 28% ahead of schedule. Cool.
For the most part, I've enjoyed my reads. I just finished a Scott Turow legal drama. That guy can write. Last night I started the new Walter Mosely. That guy can write, too.
I'm still mulling whether to invest in an e-reader like a Kindle. I did download my Lake Charles to open up as a PC Kindle. It's slick.
My last blog posted on my Reading Challenge brought comments from fellow readers who're on track to get through 200 books for 2011! Wow. I'm awed. I've tried to read faster, but I don't enjoy the story as much. But that's just my analog brain at work.
I believe I'll squeeze in some classics this summer between the beach reads. What are your summer reading plans?
