Some Thanksgiving Traditions at Our House
Like all families, we have our pet traditions that are carried over from Thanksgiving to Thanksgiving. They're not as elaborate as Festivus (see SEINFELD), but we stay true to them nonetheless. So, I'm listing a few things we like to do on Thanksgiving.
#1. Watch the NYC Macy's parade on TV.
#2. Look for the Woody Woodpecker & Bullwinkle balloon in the parade (some
of us never grew up).
#3. Listen to Arlo Guthrie sing "Alice's Restaurant."
#4. Serve dill pickles and olives with the holiday vittles.
#5. See a movie (usually a rental or pay-for-view).
#6. Watch the Redskins get stomped. Again.
#7. Say the blessing.
#8. Think about all those ham sandwiches for lunch the following week.
#9. Think of those who're serving overseas.
#10. Wash lots of dishes.
Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Embracing the Busy Days Prior to Christmas
My blog posts have thinned out during the days leading up to Christmas. My work-in-progress has been my second small town cozy mystery, this one titled Bermuda Canard, due to appear in 2012. I'm doing the final edits for Bermuda Canard. Readers liked the debut title in the series, Quiet Anchorage.
A cozy mystery is a change of gears for me. The writing style more closely follows the stories I wrote and sold to the Dorchester TRUE ladies magazines a couple of years ago. I like the two senior lady sleuths, Alma and Isabel Trumbo, who're based on my late aunts. It's been fun for me, and I hope that fun comes through in the writing and storyline.
