Devon is a novelist from Durham, North Carolina. She grew up in metro-Detroit in an enormous extended family and was an artist as soon as she could hold a crayon. She put together her first book–with packing tape, cardboard and wrapping paper–in her aunt’s magical bedroom full of bookshelves and a roll-top desk. It's my favorite thing. I want to do it all life long, and I plan to. I guess this is just another way of saying that the best thing about being a writer is getting to love my job. I also love it when I am able to scoop other artistic endeavors into the writing field, like illustrating, cooking, etc. I will love it, too, if writing facilitates travel, which I hope one day it will.(less)

“You stupid cow!” He laughed at her behind those icicle eyes. “You really think anyone is better than you? Everyone’s a thief, woman! Waiting for the next terrible thing to do to get ahead of their neighbor. Forty of us around a table weren’t enough to convince you of that?”
Devon Trevarrow Flaherty, The Night of One Hundred Thieves

“The question hung unfinished between them, stretched over the desert, emblazoned like a sword that pierced through his heart, through her heart, and out like a bloodied ship mast rising on sandy waves.”
Devon Trevarrow Flaherty, Benevolent

“He dropped the tavern apron in a heap on the floor and pulled the freshly laundered one up and over his head, tied it with slightly tremoring fingers. The vast whiteness felt like absolution.”
