Book Review: Bridge Of Clay

I am going to keep this book review as simple as possible and just say...I loved it! This story made me laugh and made me cry and also made me desperately want a mule for my backyard (but definitely not my kitchen). The writing perfectly described what I think it would feel like to grow up in house with 5 boys, which at times made me envious and at others thankful that I am an only child. This story was much different from A Book Thief, but offered the same brilliant writing technique of Markus Zusak. I would definitely recommend it!

It has been a year and seven months since we last heard from Marienela at the end of A Rebel Star.  Where has she been since then?  When we last saw her, Mari was back in her privileged home in London, scheming behind her father’s back, plotting her ultimate revenge.  Now she is finally read to set her plan into motion.  How will she get her revenge?  Will she be able to save her people?  Where is Danny?  With the help of old friends, and some new, the answers await you in the exciting new sequel, A Rising Star.

'Tis the Season

‘Tis that time of year when shopping is most like The Hunger Games.  Shop keepers and store owners announce “90% of everything” and may the odds be ever in your favor.  Finding a parking spot makes us feel like Roman Gladiators and traffic makes us feel like crying.  People are shopping, spending, cooking, gathering together, and making plans to visit family and friends.  Movies are being released in theaters, each vying for our attention, and our favorite authors are publishing their latest novels.

Though I do not celebrate the holidays, I do enjoy taking advantage of the sales, especially the ones on Kindle and Nook books, and taking time off work to spend with my family.  For me this time of year also means the release of my second novel, A Rebel Star, published last month.  It was a project two years in the making, requiring tons of research and planning.

With A Rebel Star finally finished and released for all the world to see, it is now time for me to begin working on the sequel.  The next novel in the Rebel Star series will take Mari to new places and new heights so she can complete her mission and reunite with Danny…maybe.  ;)

This is my favorite time of year to write.  Cloudy, gray days provide the perfect atmosphere.  All I need is a cup of hot chocolate, a good pen, and a notebook, and I can entertain myself for hours with the stories that are bouncing around in my head.  There are so many that it is starting to get cramped in there.  My hand races to keep up with my thoughts, so that soon I can share them with all of you.

With one final tease before I go, I would like to announce that the second book in the Rebel Star series will be entitled…

A Rising Star.

Until next time,

Alyssa Rae
