Kurt’s Recent Updates

The Mad Wife by Meagan Church
"This book was heavy. And worse so because these things happened and will happen again if certain men in power are allowed free rein over our bodies. Don’t read too many reviews because people say too much. I wish people would stop doing that. Anyhow," Read more of this review »
Children of Strife by Adrian Tchaikovsky
"Children of Time is one of my favorite SF books ever, and introduced Adrian Tchaikovsky to me. I have enjoyed everything I've ever read by him, but no one who writes as prolifically as he does can knock it out of the park every time. This has been tr" Read more of this review »

" Thanks, Monique! "
The Manor by Mac Griswold
"I'm kind of torn about this book. It had a fascinating premise and was on my wish list for quite a while. Northern slavery has been ignored for so long and the notion that the biography of a "slave plantation" in the Northeast had been written really" Read more of this review »
Dreamland by Newton Thornburg
"The plot's a little silly and a lot of people won't like the final chapter but it was a fun ride and I liked that (view spoiler)" Read more of this review »

I bought my copy of Hot Blood #8 back in 1997 in Barnes & Noble in Scottsdale Arizona. I paid $5.99 for it according to the cover price. I can remember this because B&N was a regular stop for me after work in those days. They had a decent horror sect ...more

It was in HOLLYWOOD BABYLON when I first read about the unsolved 1922 murder of director William Desmond Taylor. He was found dead from a gunshot wound in his bungalow home early one morning. His last known visitor was silent film star Mabel Normand. ...more

George Orwell
“It was not desirable that the proles should have strong political feelings. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances.”
George Orwell, 1984

“A poet is someone who stands outside in the rain hoping to be struck by lightning.”
