I've been swinging a metal detector for 38 years, and I still get the same feeling standing in a field that I got the first time something good came out of the ground.
I'm based in Wisconsin but spend a good part of my time traveling to Civil War states — Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Pennsylvania — hunting the sites that produced the bullets, belt buckles, and personal relics that connect us directly to the men who fought there. Civil War detecting is my passion, and research is what makes it possible. You can't find what you can't locate first.
