A. K. Hayat writes speculative fiction about dangerous love, broken worlds, and the cost of surviving what should have destroyed you. His stories often move between beauty and ruin, following characters into the only version of the world they could have entered. The way in changes every time.

In Hayat’s fiction, power always comes with a price, memory is rarely clean, and even tenderness can become dangerous. His debut novel, The Final Steep, is the first book in The Athergard Trilogy. It received a BlueInk Starred Review and was called “a master class in the creation of truly original fantasy.”

Two Starred Reviews from BlueInk Review

When I started writing these books, I hoped they would find readers. Everything else felt too far away to think about.

So seeing both The Final Steep and Malanthia: The Dark Violet receive Starred Reviews from BlueInk Review has been something I genuinely appreciate.
