The Birth of 'Ice Cold'
I'm sure most fiction authors are asked the same question that I have been getting since the release of my second novel, 'Ice Cold.' "Where did you come up with that story?" I , personally, followed the premise 'write what you know.' I know police work, I know the New York Rangers, and I certainly know or have met some pretty strange people in my life. Throw them all together and you have 'Ice Cold.' Every character in the story is based on a real life, honest to goodness human being. Yes, the names have been changed to protect the insane, however these people do exist.Ask any police officer, especially one from a large city like New York, about the strangest people they have ever met or the most bizarre case they have ever worked on, and most will respond 'you wouldn't believe it if I told you.' Well, here it is. Be they fellow cops, victims, suspects, or just people that come along, most are characters straight out of central casting. These are the characters that make up 'Ice Cold.' The detective with numerous personal issues, the hockey-obsessed sergeant, the mysterious female goddess, the twisted love triangle, the rabid New York Ranger fans, and, of course, the killer. It was fun writing the story, even more fun living it.I hope you enjoy 'Ice Cold.'Ice Cold

First Official Press Release for 'Ice Cold'
NYPD Career, Sports Fanaticism Inspires New 'Ice Cold' Novel
Retired New York City Police Officer Billy Pepitone was looking for a way to tell the story of several colorful characters he met during his law enforcement career, and his passion for the New York Rangers. The two worlds collide in 'Ice Cold.'
Morrisville, PA (I-Newswire) March 26, 2013 - Ice Cold, a fiction novel published by online content manager Xlibris, tells the story of Jack Placey, a decorated veteran New York City homicide detective. Placey, simultaneously battling bouts of narcolepsy and insomnia, is assigned to investigate a murder inside the world famous Madison Square Garden. He is soon teamed with sexy, sharp tongued Sergeant Ramona Isis, a hockey fanatic who fears the killer has set his sights on her beloved New York Rangers and their quest to win the Stanley Cup. While on the trail of the murderer known only as 'Iceman', the polar opposite investigators struggle to coexist while confronting a sideshow of possible suspects across three states. With the Rangers closing in on the Holy Grail, Placey and Isis must find the 'Iceman' before he kills again and derails hockey history.
Pepitone found the inspiration for the tale from familiar questions posed to him many times throughout his twenty year law enforcement career. "People always ask cops about the craziest people they have ever met, and the funniest stories they have from the street. I decided to put them all together. Every character in the book is real, only the names have been changed to protect the insane."
"An unbelievably great read." said former New York Ranger and ten year National Hockey League veteran Chris Kotsopoulos. "Billy does a great job of combining murder/mystery with the greatest sport in the world-hockey!"
Ice Cold is available at Barnesandnoble.com, Amazon.com, Xlibris.com, and all major online retail sites.
Billy Pepitone previously collaborated with his brother Joseph on the 2010 critically acclaimed baseball novel 'Soul of a Yankee.' He can be reached for comment at Bpepitone@hotmail.com
