Sir Thomas 2nd Edition – Cover Reveal!

People have been emailing me what they remember about Sir Thomas the Hesitant and the Table of Less Valued Knights. A few readers mentioned themes that resonated:

Heroism Things aren’t always what they seem and the Less Valued motto – Somnia Salvebis – “Nonsense, you’ll be fine.”

But most memories focused on characters and relationships:

Grandma Farmer Gorgella, the giantess with self-esteem issues the “vulnerability, humor and fearful bravery of Sir Thomas” the familiar and endearing frie...

Uther’s Boot Do I Have a Lot to Tell You

Here’s a handy diagram to help you understand where I’ve been for the past many months.

I've been enjoying my time, but it's time to get out from under the rock. The end of 2018 is going to be a whirlwind, but let's start with three things.

First, the second draft of the second Less Valued Knights novel is finished. Now it goes to some beta readers and a copy editor and then gets a final draft and then on to be published, I pray, in early December.

You heard that right. Less Valued Knights #...

The Curiously Stunted, Incomprehensibly Disjointed, Perfectly Inadequate Adventures of Nicholas Cornelius Holloway – Episode 99

She was the kind of person who persistently looked for the good. She’d point out the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you told her it was an oncoming train she’d smile and say, “Well then at least it will all be over soon.”

She was the sweet in bittersweet. The brown sugar in the butterscotch. The orange in the marmalade.

But it was reality she was after not roses. “Roses are coming,” she would say. “No tears in heaven,” she’d say. “But,” and this was the important part. “But that means thi...

Last Chance for Deleted Ending

Long Version

The final Inadequate Adventure, Episode 99, will post tomorrow – Thursday, December 28, 2017.

An Adequate Epilogue will post on the final day of 2017. Because the epilogue would be spoiled if one were to read it accidentally without having been on the  journey, it will require a password. The password will be included in the final Preposterous Newsletter of 2017 which will be emailed on the same day: December 31, 2017.

Readers who subscribe to the Preposterous Newsletter after th...

The Curiously Stunted, Incomprehensibly Disjointed, Perfectly Inadequate Adventures of Nicholas Cornelius Holloway – Episode 98

“How’s the novel?” she asked.

He peeled his face from the keyboard. “I’m stuck.”

“No worries.” She sat down. “The doctor is in. What’s the problem?”

“The hero discovers ancient lore that changes his world.”

“Sounds good.”

“But what’s the ancient lore?”

“Ah. When I get stuck I brainstorm. One rule: there are no bad ideas.”

“Okay.”

“So, maybe… a girl finds a flip phone in a dusty box, and when she picks it up, it rings.”

“I was thinking more ancient.”

She frowned. “No bad ideas.”

“Okay.”

“Okay…...

The Curiously Stunted, Incomprehensibly Disjointed, Perfectly Inadequate Adventures of Nicholas Cornelius Holloway – Episode 97

He was clubbing the clock with a baseball bat.

“Whatcha doin’?” she asked.

“Killing time.”

“That’s dumb.”

“Pardon?”

“That’s not time. That’s a chronometer. It just measures time. It’d be like trying to kill a virus by smashing a thermometer.”

He slumped. “So, what? I need like a time vaccine?”

She shook her head. “That would stop time, but you already have time.”

“What do I do?”

She shrugged.

“If I can’t kill it, what if I just pass it?”

He tried walking back and forth over the mangled clock....

What’s Happening and What’s Next

Dear friends,

We are rapidly approaching the completion of the Inadequate Adventures. Episode 99 will be the last. There is an epilogue that, believe it or not, ties everything together. Unlike the preface and the episodes, the epilogue depends on the reader having read everything else. It falls flat otherwise. So I won’t be posting the epilogue in the normal manner but will make it available in other ways. To start, it will be available to existing and future subscribers of my Preposterous S...

The Curiously Stunted, Incomprehensibly Disjointed, Perfectly Inadequate Adventures of Nicholas Cornelius Holloway – Episode 96

She was staring at the checklist.

She groaned, “Will there ever be a time when there aren’t still a dozen things to do?”

He picked up the list, slowly ripped it in pieces and dropped it in the trash.

“Whenever you like,” he said. “You are not for the checklist. The checklist is for you.”

He smiled.

Her shoulders dropped, and she mirrored his smile.

He left.

She pounced on the trash, gathered the pieces and taped them back together. She sighed and resolved to watch what she said out loud aroun...
