And Then There Were Four: Shaking the Family Tree to See the Diagnosis Fall Out is her memoir about four generations of neurodivergence and the four-person household currently living with it in Salisbury, Maryland. Each chapter is named after a song, because music has always been the thread running through this family. Cyn writes about the time her son threw up in two different Michigan restaurants on the same business trip, the sensory math that led him to start cutting his own hair (yikes), and the discovery that travel and Big Brother therapy were the keys that finally unlocked him. There are cardboard boats built for family fun and paddled across the lake — some floated, some didn't. Original songs that will never chart. Encounters with law enforcement, a fire department callout, and a shortcut that ended with the Virginia State Police. A bug-laced weekend at a Delaware music festival.
Driving lessons. Jobs. Therapists, IEPs, food battles, sensory landmines. Faith questioned. Grief processed. A marriage that kept showing up, even when neither of them wanted to.
