NOLA til you die!
I just got back from a research trip to New Orleans. The locals are so passionate about their amazing city. Banners reading NOLA til you die! hung from buildings and posts. After being there for a few days, I can see where the love comes from. The beauty, culture, and variety that New Orleans has to offer can not be beat.
We stayed in the French Quarter, which is where the tourists spend most of the time. The nightlife was colorful especially on Frenchmen st. and Bourbon st. Bonus to sta...

The Right Notes
Release Day! The Right Notes is officially out and I'm in love with this rock'n roll romance! It's the story of Mya and Asher. Blurb below:
Mya’s one and only long-term relationship taught her not to trust — and she was a quick learner. Never one to make the same mistake twice, she knew that no one could hurt her behind the barriers she put up. She felt nothing and preferred it that way. Mya’s life was fine — just fine. Until Asher Dawson, the most notorious rock star in the world, came crash...

Camp NaNoWriMo
Today is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo and I couldn't be more excited. For those who don't know what that crazy abbreviation stands for it's, camp national novel writing month. Which is just a fun way of saying national no sleep for authors month :) I'm hoping to finish my current work in progress, The Right Notes, with the extra motivation that this month brings. This is also the first time that I've talked about this novel. It's a new adult contemporary romance that happens to b...

Guest Post: Kayla Dawn Thomas
Thanks for inviting me over to your corner of the web to talk about one of my favorite things: writing! I’ve been a storyteller my whole life. Before I could work a pencil I told my tales to a jump rope. Thank goodness that phase ended once I could read and write! My grandma told me someday I would write books for a living, and I always hoped that would come true. Here I am a few decades later making reality from a dream.
Inspiration
There are stories everywhere. I notice someone, s...

Memorial Day
Memorial Day weekend is associated with BBQ's and camping, but I just wanted to take a moment to remind you all to stop and think of the veterans in-between the festivities. That is why the holiday exists and spending time in the military when my husband was active duty was an eye opener. These men and women are so often neglected, though they're all too tough to complain. They sign over their freedom and risk their lives to protect yours. So please, thank a veteran you know or visit the...

Dropped off the face of the Earth
Hello, any and all that read these posts. Sorry I've been MIA the past few months. I have been under the weather, but no worries I've been typing away and should have two new novels for you guys this summer. One is the highly anticipated sequel to Landlocked. It's titled Heart Locked and I can't wait for you guys to get your hands on it :) The second is a stand alone romance called The Right Notes and it's set around a very swoon worthy rock star named Asher.
I'll keep you...

Profiling Characters with Music
It started when Shakira's Whenever, Whereverpoured from my headphones and into my brain. The scene came alive in my imagination, and I knew that song embodied my character.
Granted, not everything fit. My character, Derek, is male. Some of the physical attributes Shakira sings about just don't apply. But the passion, surety, and obsession? Totally.
That doesn't always translate out onto paper while I'm writing. But it lingers there, in the back...
