We as people find inspiration in many ways. A chain of events found through my determined hunt for collaboration let me to Cornerstone Creative Studios.

I spoke with artists and writers, braved the print on demand indie publish community, and went through contact lists like it was my job even though the pay sucked (non existent even). I dove into the Digital Webbing community, a site owned by Ed Dukeshire that at one time was social media for comic creators/talent when social media was not even a thing. I found an add there posting submission offers for artists from CCS by Jesse “Cadre” Hansen. Primarily a writer, I knew that I was ineligible, but in that split second I decided to see what these guys over in Ormond Beach were up to. I had finished my self imposed work day, so why not unwind with some web browsing? This seemingly insignificant decision has changed my life.

I perused the site that belonged to this humble art studio, and was captivated. I commented on art, my true feelings I had on the spot when I experienced each piece, and unlike the rest of social media up to this point, I got replies and responses. I remember feeling incredible, something as simple as acknowledgement that I genuinely liked the work, and the appreciation the members had for a fan that had no comic experience whatsoever.

It was a week or so, and the admin of the site began to get involved in the interactions, and we started talking about the original creations on the page. Jesse Hansen was decent and genuinely excited about his work and the talented people who he created/worked with. After another week of random chatting, we had a conversation about what I had been working on and I mentioned looking to collaborate on an adaptation of my newly released novel, “Age of Armageddon“. I told him then that I found the advertisement for artists and followed it even though it was for artists only, which at the time, I was far from being eligible for. I then ended with “I was curious and loved the artwork, don’t worry Cadre, I am not going to beg you for a writing job lol!”. Jesse actually offered me up a submission opportunity with email and instructions. It was a 3 part submission, with a few short free writing assignments, and eventually ending with conversion of a short story into comic script. I was given a short list of heroes that were untouched by the studio, and got to pick an image and give him an origin. After, Daniel Horowitz and Jesse “Cadre” Hansen offered me a mentorship, where I would work with staff and create to earn a slot as a full fledged member. This was a beautiful moment, to work with an art staff as a writer, and see your imagination realized visually was something that I was unable to achieve up to this point in my career. It was a satisfaction that was beyond words, because it was my first creative trade collaboration.

I approached the opportunity as I had approached my day jobs professionally my whole life. Work ethic, and deliver on my commitments, and be honest in my creative opinions. It has been a winning formula as we build our Cornerverse. I spoke with talent as Jesse referred me. I had questions and he either had the answer or knew someone who did. My hunger to polish my craft was fed, with no hesitation, and encouraged every step of the way. The gratitude I feel for this, is a dear feeling that I keep close to me whenever I do a public event, or work on a new project, and I owe this to Jesse Hansen and his dedication to his studio and its members.

I say all of this, as today I will be talking with Monty Stikkmann, a talented artist/writer who created the hero shown in the studio image above. 5entry was the first image that inspired me when I came to the studio official page, and was what inspired my first short story I turned in to the studio. If not for Monty, maybe I would not be here. His vision, and Jesse’s vision, their collaboration, in turn led me to dig into the CCS universe and led to a conversation with CEO Cadre and changed my life. My second story was a short story about a college student named Ian Olson, who wanted to bump his grade point average, and ended up becoming a powerhouse of uncontrollable energy under the mantle Power Block. I continued on and was given the title Kur of the Nexus then completed the planned 4 issue origin arc. I earned the opportunity to search in house for a team to create a group title for our collective cause, the adaptation of my scifi/fantasy/post apocalyptic story that I named Hayvard Saint’s 8: Federal Offensive Responders U.S. and a female lead title scifi called Meteor Marlee & the Astronerds!

I tend to come off as egotistical, and pretentious, I have experienced it and know what it is, but my attitude should not be misinterpreted, as it is something much more beautiful. It is genuine enthusiasm to create, and a love for our culture, and love for my fellow members at Cornerstone Creative Studios, and I put a dash of unorthodox humor in for good measure occasionally

I am in talks with musicians to assess our prototype theme song here. I am so happy for the inspiration I am given daily and want to share my passion to create with anyone who needs or wants it.

This is my dream. So we are building for our Kickstarter launch this summer, date to be announced following the turn in of final art bio images colored by Alessandro Turetta, our video intro completion with Daniel Stairs of WAGM News8, and this song edited and integrated.

I am not sure why disaster follows me. I released my novel in 2013, Age of Armageddon, the day of the Boston Marathon Bombing. My startup name is Author Bomb Books.

I wrote this novel while struggling with a family crisis, but not without a huge perspective change that I carry every day.

I released an event I am excited to participate in. Although it is in the title, I am no saint. We all deserve redemption. We all deserve a chance to come back and do great things.

I released, not knowing that my mother had been diagnosed with mouth cancer. She delayed telling me until today for some reason I cannot understand.

I coordinated logos I need for my startup and grand creative message and yet again, the MOAB drops in Afghanistan in an eerie coincidence. The logos were to Trademark for my next step in publishing with Author Bomb Books.

I mean I am not superstitious. Coincidences seem to happen to me like this more often than I care to share. Sometimes I wonder why I even think in this mindset or even give these coincidences another thought. Always through the tar soaked burning blanket of despair and loss. Losses in plain sight, so they linger and ache, like a shiv left in the muscle it bleeds but does not kill me. Until I am used to it, and want to leave the knife in. It keeps me mindful of what awaits us all eventually. I face mortality and time as one would look at a reflection. You go to the mirror to reflect and assess and face yourself, all you have done, everything you haven’t, and picture your own unknown end that you can almost never be ready for.

I fight because I made that reflection a promise. A promise to let it out. This imagination. I will carry my pain and wear it on my sleeve proudly tempered with hope. I do what I do and care less of money, possessions, but if I give up, I can’t go to that mirror and make an excuse or explain. The thought will be there for him to see, transparent through masks or walls we put up to feel comfortably sad.

The moral of all this is we get a life. Nothing else is guaranteed. This is perceived differently but we all get this base allowance and we build it up with our own perception and actions. It is yours until its not anymore. Nothing is etched in stone, except your tombstone.

The blog title sounds simple, but this is the biggest step. Securing the funding I need for a dream. Can you put a price tag on an intangible dream? Currently we can, with a beautiful enabler in Kickstarter.com.

I have put time and money into publishing my Age of Armageddon novel and pursuing the adaptation. I am fortunate to have support from the amazing talent at Cornerstone Creative Studios, LLC, and the many experienced industry friends I have made in my journey. My dream is to continue creating and share Hayvard Saint’s 8: Federal Offensive Responders U.S. with readers. My dream is to merge with Jesse Hansen’s Cornerverse and partner to grow a comic universe of action, wonder, and storytelling long term.

I am strong and confident in the writing slot, and must work hard to go outside this comfort zone, but its worth it. To fight against the grain and battle a dizzying sea of information needed to promote, build, and execute a crowdfunding campaign is my path. I walk it knowing what I am doing is right, and that it is necessary to share my passion for storytelling.

Jonhda Starling is doing her college report including material from our project “Meteor Girl & The Astronerds” at Cornerstone Creative Studios. I had a video meeting with her and we went over questions about the creative process, the amazing story, and our opinions about this black female character.

The interview went so well and was a lot of fun. Jonhda Starling is great and a talented artist. We also collaborated on a two page short comic strip that she will be drawing this week specifically for this project. It is a strip, but also a social experiment that will hopefully be well received. We will be starting the concept collaboration stage again soon, and develop more to round out our origin issue. We are excited to bring this hero to the comic world and hopefully it will be something everyone can appreciate.

Jonhda Starling was in the Navy and is working current as an electrician in Colorado. Her dream is to draw full time. She is well mannered and extremely easy to talk to and work with and I am happy to get to split this title with someone that has her skills and is so productive while collaborating. Cornerstone Creative Studios is supporting us as we seek to add this hero and expand our shared universe of heroes.

My team and I submitted to Creators for Creators grant. Pages turned in with the proposal are exciting, my creative team rocked it! With submissions closed I am in the waiting game of my life. I have work to do and will carry on, but the potential and opportunity this grant can award goes way beyond the 30K production money and the publishing deal our team agreed to claim with me.

This is the potential beginning to long term comics, the freedom to create, and a chance to realize my dreams. I don’t want a handout and could care less about money. Its probably why I am so bad at making said money. I want my team paid and to create stories with passion. I want the opportunity. And if I get it, I will work the rest of my career to prove that I am the creator that grant was built for. I am the man that will claim that destiny. I will begin a legacy. Its not narcissism. I always write like the world is ending, and its ironic I want to debut with post apocalyptic fiction.

This post is to make it clear for any and all readers. Regardless of grant or situation, I go full tilt on my scripts. I work hard, I research, I outline, I construct and conduct the story I want to read. And I am fighting with a spirited charge to do something simple and noble with it…I want to share it with this amazing comic community and the fans that are hungry for something new and fun.

I am writer Ryan Tyler Palmer, and am doing a signing at Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library July 9th, 2016 @ 10:00 AM for my novel “Age of Armageddon: The Spirit of Krynn”! This story is getting a comic book adapt at Cornerstone Creative Studios and comics have been a current 4 year goal for me as a writer starting in 2012.

We will have novels available at retail signed at no additional fee, or they can be purchased from Amazon or Barnes & Noble if you are worried about availability. Copies have been donated already to Caribou and Presque Isle (both in Maine, United States) so it can be signed out if you have a library card.

This is part of Cornerstone Creative Studios preview tour so there will be print images of our upcoming titles including Kur of the Nexus & Power Block written by me. We also are featuring the group title adaptation of the novel, “Hayvard Saint’s 8: Federal Offensives Responders U.S.” with heroes like Awesome Angel, Ultra Ghost, and the Infallible Mammoth Monk! The “Saint’s 8” prints will be in limited supply, Penciled by Joseph Arnold and colored by Marvel Cover Artist Freddy Lopez!

Preview book will be on hand for a flip through but not for sale. There will also be a video display created and edited by Aroostook native, and 15 year veteran pro video specialist, Daniel Stairs!

I wrote this a year ago when I first met Hansen, CEO of Cornersone. I have since been recruited into the ranks but found this as a saved draft I never published.

Jesse Hanson CEO, is the lead on Cornerstone Creative and has an arsenal of comic book industry veterans at his disposal. I spoke with him for some time on sunday, and although the project is not officially released, he has a slew of comic genius ready to hit the market soon. Armed with talented artists, a solid base of writers, and a love for comic books, Jesse plans to launch a list of titles in the near future.

Jesse “Cadre” Hansen has been published in over 35 comic books, magazines and periodicals, including Cracked Magazine. He has done everything from Pre-Press, Editor role, Art Director, Publisher, Penciller, Inker, Grayscale/Colorist and even Letters and Post production. He was a refreshing reprieve from the writing/comic book snobs that new talent waiting to be discovered often trudges through on the way to their own successes. It is not a gimmick, it is not a hoax, he fits the definition of a Top Notch Guy.

My new novel “Age of Armageddon: The Spirit of Krynn” was released by Author Bomb Books through Ingram book group on April 15, 2013, the day of the Boston Massacre Bombing. We postponed the book launch in respect of the incident and in my emotional state, wrote a patriotic statement to hopefully inspire grieving Americans. This is my thought on the Boston Massacre…

I wanted to make a statement about the event bombing in Boston. Some speculate that it was a domestic conspiracy and others believe it terrorists from abroad, a prelude for what is to come. It is a terrible crime. This photo shows a mysterious man on the roof overlooking the explosion. Maybe it is the terrorist, or a citizen stealing a peek as the competitors reach their end. I am sorry for the people who met their untimely end that day and their families. I wish a quick recovery to the injured.

The point of this statement is to address the individual/individuals responsible directly. What were you thinking? If you are trying to instill fear, you will be surprised, because Americans come together in times of crisis. You will not scatter us, or force us cowering in the shadow of evil’s tormenting presence. Sure, we run for survival from fire and force, but we will return stronger than ever. We are people who’s heroes prevail in combat. Our entertainment is saturated with heroic violence and competition for a reason. We like it. Again, the loss endured by those who were attacked on that dreadful day is great and it is not enjoyable by any means, and mostly we are a peace loving country, but rest easy thy wounded heart, heroic patriot hears your cry.

When our government finds that loose end, dangling in the sorrowful wind of the blast’s resounding pop, that hateful son of a bitch is going to pay. In this case, Lady justice, who wears a blindfold, will pass her unbiased judgement. After the scale is balanced out, she will violently peel her blindfold from her pale visage, stare the guilty parties in the eye before she raises her glinting steel. A shining weapon carrying with it the crushing weight of the cherished dead, the heavy hearts of America, and the vengeance of our millions of patriots. She will at that moment ask a simple question, “Who is terrified now?”. We are a nation of united patriots, and you are going to pay for this.
