“This Midlife of Mine, I’m Gonna Let It Shine.”

I created this quote, and this movement, to encourage and empower middle-aged women all over the world to embrace midlife with confidence, grace, and pride.

Let’s be honest… There’s a lot of negativity online surrounding women going through midlife. The conversations are often filled with frustration, loss, and fear. But I want to change that narrative. I want to help women find peace, rediscover their joy, and do the things that bring them happiness in spite of the changes happening in our bodies.

I’m a 52-year-old woman currently walking through perimenopause, so trust me, I get it. I understand the frustration, the uncertainty, the feeling of not quite being yourself. The lack of motivation to do the things you once loved. The nights of poor sleep. The body aches in places that have never hurt before. The joint pain, the mood swings, the mental fog, the weight changes, the shifts in our lady parts… Yep, you know I've got to keep it real.

Hormonal changes during this stage of life are no joke. They can make you feel lost, defeated, or like your body is fighting against you. For some women, midlife can feel very dark, and that’s something we need to talk about openly. Because the truth is, this season can be overwhelming, both physically and emotionally. You are not alone, and you will get through this!

No, every day isn’t a good day for me either. But on my good days, I’ve learned to be truly grateful. Midlife has shifted my perspective. I now see life as the gift that it is, and I try my best to honor each new day.

In spite of everything my body is going through, I refuse to stop living and doing the things that bring me joy. And I encourage you to do the same. Take time for yourself. Reconnect with who you are and remember what you’re made of. You’re still that woman who is full of light.

Give yourself grace… Don’t let midlife dim your light.

Get back to doing the things that make you feel alive. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Fight your way through this season with strength and self-compassion. Advocate for yourself. Get the help, the treatment, and the support you deserve. Our hormones might be all over the damn place right now, but that doesn’t mean we have to suffer in silence.

You owe it to yourself to FULLY live.
