Hi there. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand (aka QuakeZone) with my partner, two children, and a snooty cat who thinks we're all her slaves. My days are spent running around after kids or doing one of my 'real' jobs, so my writing generally happens in the dead of night. (Morning? Ha! I'm a third-generation night owl. Enough said.)

I love chocolate, hate being cold, and am ever fascinated by the possibility of time travel. Obviously, my ideal experience would be to wake up on a tropical island eighty years into the future, with an endless supply of chocolate on hand.

There's nothing I love more than a good chat (except perhaps a good chat and chocolate--see the theme here?). So don't be shy--get in touch!

(I ended up with a pile so high I think I need to so straight to Weight Watchers, do not pass Go, do not collect any chocolate!)

As to your question, I've always had quite a vivid imagination and to be honest I'm not exactly sure where my ideas come from - they just pop into my head!

For example, when I wrote my first book I was swimming regularly and as I did my laps I started thinking about what would happen if I didn't notice the end of the pool coming up and bashed straight into it. That sparked the start of the story and the rest just evolved from there.

I have another story idea in my head that came from a situation a friend found herself in (sorry, I can't tell you details at the moment, but suffice to say it was unusual enough for me to wonder why it had happened). I asked myself why, came up with outrageous possibilities, and one of them really appealed to the storyteller in me.

Because I write chick lit, though, my heroines often get into humorous situations and, honestly, all I have to do is think "what could possibly go wrong?" and imagine myself dealing with the scenario. I am such a ditzy idiot at times!

So I guess at the end of the day my inspiration comes from a mix of reality, my imagination, and my own take on life. :) (less)

“The floaty sensation stopped with a jolt. This was it, then. The Heaven/Hell decision. A way bigger deal than sitting my A-levels, and look how badly I’d screwed them up. This wasn’t going to end well.”
