J.R. Abella earned his degree in History from the Central University of Venezuela in 2012. He later served as a professor at his alma mater, leading the seminar "Laughter and Madness in the Middle Ages." A global citizen, he moved from Venezuela to Colombia in 2019 before settling in the United States in 2022.While his academic roots are mainly in History, a profound passion for literature emerged at a very young age, when he discovered classics such as Dickens, Dostoevsky, and Kafka. His own literary voice was further shaped by the Argentine masters Julio Cortázar and Jorge Luis Borges.
