More than 70 photos from the life of Huguette Clark are in the hardcover EMPTY MANSIONS
If you've seen an early reader's edition of Empty Mansions, you've seen only the few black-and-white photos displayed in the text. The final hardcover book has more than 70 photos, most of them in color.
In the book you'll see photos of Huguette at various stages of her life, photos of her family, paintings that she created, her homes, her doll collection, her jewelry, her friends, her correspondence, and other aspects of her life.
We'll post some of these photos online as Empty Mansions is rolled out on Sept. 10, 2013, both here on Goodreads and on the website for the book, http://emptymansionsbook.com.
Here's a glimpse of the golden room in the Clark mansion where she grew up, the most expensive house in New York city. Although the Clark mansion was demolished in 1927, this room survives at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

And here's a watermark-protected image of one of the paintings made by the artist Huguette, a delicate Japanese geisha bathed in gold:

A second Huguette Clark biography
Readers of Empty Mansions,
As some of you no doubt have noticed, there's a second Huguette Clark biography on the market. I'll keep my opinions to myself, but The New York Times offers a comparison here:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/29/boo....
More about the bestseller "Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune" is at http://emptymansionsbook.com/. We're grateful to readers who have pushed Empty Mansions onto the Los Angeles Times bestseller list for the 22nd week, and The New York Times list for 12.
Regards,
Bill Dedman
