Join me! Summer Reading Book Club at Heart Strides on Facebook

Dear Brave Ones – Oh how I’ve missed you! A spring of work, caregiving, and walking pneumonia kept me from writing and I’m just now finding my way back. I left The Nantucket Project at the end of our short-term agreement and will start freelancing again in the fall. In the meantime, I intend to […]

Watermark Conference for Women – Watch out world, these women are breaking free!

I love speaking at the Conferences for Women (in Boston, Philadelphia, Austin and San Jose). When you get 6K+ women together the energy is out of sight, and you know after a day of brainstorming and networking they’re all going home fired up, and the world will never be the same. At Watermark Conference for […]

A Surprise from Mrs. E., and our Holiday Wish for You

Mrs. E was my 8th grade social studies teacher. I feared and admired her. She was petite, Asian American, strict, and terrifying – I told G and R how I once cried in front of her when I got a B (i.e., an Asian F).  Since Some Nerve came out, we’ve reconnected, even getting our […]

And she’s off…R’s First Kids Triathlon!

10 yo R completed the Zoot Westchester Kids Triathlon 2016 in Rye, NY this fall – I took some time to write the race report because, well, you’ll see. There was much to report! Enjoy. For as long as I can remember, R has been running away from me. Slap slap slap, the sound of […]

Thanksgiving Turkey with a side of Pre Trauma Stress Disorder. Thanks 2016.

"We have a lot to be thankful for," my husband said last night. I was lying in bed at 9:30 pm, the night before Thanksgiving, depleted and sad. "I know,' I said. "But it doesn't feel like enough, that WE'RE ok...for now." It's like having a Pre-Trauma-Stress-Disorder. The violence and stripping away of rights are coming, we can feel it in our bones.

UGH! What dark and despairing thoughts to have at Thanksgiving! Then I remember,

Election Day 2016

Growing up I felt that immigrants, in my family and in our neighborhood in the Bronx, were the most patriotic and active American citizens because they were so grateful to be here. My parents, who fled

How to Get Anything Done – A Preview of the Women at Woodstock Retreat

Tell me if you do this: * You begin a project with great gusto. But before long, you’re getting a snack, sweeping the porch, checking Facebook, dreaming of other projects, because you need a break. * You go to yoga class, or treat yourself to a massage. Excited for the time off, you lie down and […]
