Lee Powell writes about the systems people find themselves inside before they can see them.

His nonfiction is written from inside those rooms rather than from the sidelines. His field guides, Stop Feeding the System, ManOS and Vacancy, turn difficult human experiences into practical frameworks: not pep talks, but tools for understanding what is happening, recovering agency, and deciding what comes next.

His novels, LOADED: An Archive, The God Protocol and DAY NINE, take many of the same questions somewhere stranger. They are speculative literary fiction concerned with systems, technology, consequence, memory, identity and what remains irreducibly human. His next novel, The Witness Layer, is in progress.
