In fact, my novel is very much "scaled back" in terms of how horrific the abuses actually were. A simple Google search will yield many, many stories far worse than anything I described. It is a tragic example of power and greed, and the impact on the lives of thousands of orphans. I've heard from orphans since the book has come out and so far all have thanked me for telling the story. Thanks for your question!(less)

Your question brought a couple of tears to my eyes. Thank you.(less)
