Cristi Taijeron is a homestead housewife, homeschool mom, and historical fiction author who lives in Arizona with her husband and their two children.

In between homemaking and homeschooling, she carves out time to write and design novels. She is inspired by history, how characters and settings change over the ages, yet the timeless principals of love and liberty remain. By capturing these elements in fictional adventures, she hopes to encourage her readers to embrace the simple joys of home and family, and to find life everlasting in our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Touch the fabric of the clothing and spray on the perfume your characters wear. Burn candles that smell like their homelands. Visit places similar to the setting, or at least find pictures to represent them. Read books and watch movies similar in genre. Interview people who know the fields your characters work in. Talk to friends or family who may have experienced emotional elation or turmoil you are not familiar with. If you write historical fiction, read all the history books you can. If it is fantasy, draw maps of the lands you have created. The best way to learn something is to experience it, so get out there and live the stories you write.

Any way you can immerse yourself in the setting—places, pictures, scents, fabrics, tastes and flavors—will help you to better bring it to life on the page. If you choose historical, get to the library and see what books you can find on the era. If you choose to create a fantasy world of your own, try drawing maps of the area and perhaps even write a brief history of the people and culture to get a better understanding of the place you are creating. No matter what setting you choose, I highly recommend visiting a location similar to what you choose, or at least start looking up pictures to get inspired. The stronger your connection to your tale, the more realistic you can make the experience for your readers.

POV

I truly prefer writing in first person, but the narrative view give better overview of the entire scene... Debating between the options for, Tarnished Persuasion.

“it is he who hopes not that is the fool.”
Cristi Taijeron, Uncharted Secrets (Uncharted Secrets, Book 1): Endless Horizon Pirate Stories

“Once his daggers were all stashed, he underlined his enchanting green eyes with a layer of kohl. The dark liner was to deflect the light, but I fawned over the way it contrasted his light irises.”
Cristi Taijeron, Tarnished Reputation (Justified Treason, Book 2): Endless Horizon Pirate Stories

“Good books don't give up all their secrets at once.”
Stephen King

“There are books full of great writing that don't have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story... don't be like the book-snobs who won't do that. Read sometimes for the words--the language. Don't be like the play-it-safers who won't do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book.”
Stephen King
