Ben Sautter spent most of his adult life feeling like he was two different people. A Navy veteran, a U.S. government contractor, a home builder and heavy equipment operator — that was his Jekyll side. At the same time, his Hyde side trafficked drugs, committed arson for hire, and engaged in insurance fraud, all without hesitation, without guilt, shame, or remorse.

His arrest for drug trafficking in 1988 ended Hyde’s reign — but not the question of who Ben really was. That question wasn’t answered until a brain injury at age 63 forced him to finally reckon with it.

Eight years later, he wrote his memoir and began to truly understand his dual personality. His memoir is the reckoning. The full story lies inside the cover of Mr. Hyde and Me.
