I fell in love with storytelling as a child when my paternal grandmother regaled us with stories of what it was like to come to Louisiana from the hills of Appalachia and set up house in a tent with a dirt floor. On the other side of the family tree, my paternal grandfather, a people loving preacher, was known for using humor to draw his listeners to Jesus. It's safe to say the two of them marked me. Whether in my books, speaking before audiences, or dropping a segment on The Story Table podcast I created, I love nothing more than helping hungry hearts feast on Jesus through humor and storytelling. ~Shellie

Surely it’s a myth…those long slow days of summer. Right? :)

Hello friends. I’ve been meaning to write to y’all for some time and the days just keep running into each other. I declare, I didn’t think I would still be this busy at this point in my life, but here we are. 🙂 My daughter-in-law gifted me with this little print years ago and it resonates with me more all the time.

We held The 10th Annual Pops and Keggie Kamp the last week of June and,

“Southern Mamas are known for being subtle, like a freight train.”
Shellie Rushing Tomlinson, Sue Ellen's Girl Ain't Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy: The Belle of All Things Southern Dishes on Men, Money, and Not Losing Your Midlife Mind

“One, just one, but definitely one of the great benefits of private prayer is that you can’t hide from your motives. In corporate prayer, we can sound like “all that”. We can blow Jesus smoke like nobody’s bizness in a crowd but, get alone with Him, and He won’t let you get away with the fake stuff. Try blowing Jesus smoke in your prayer closet and you’ll cough on it every time. Truth? That penetrating gaze of His hurts, but afterwards, it never fails to heal.”
Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

“All the building tools you and I will ever need are found between the pages of His living Word and in listening to His Spirit who comes to live in us.”

You are most welcome, Diana! I opened my goodreads account a while back but I haven't had much time to spend exploring it. I'm sure there are plenty of southerners, here, too. One day I hope to find time to pull 'em all together.:) Blessings~

Diana Anderson Thank you for the friendship. It's nice to meet a fellow southerner on goodreads. I'm fairly new to the site, but I'm sure there are other southern members.
