Writers Profile -Many years ago, when I was just a small boy gazing in wonder at his first pubic hair, I decided that I was going to become a tramp. I was going to drop out and go to Strathclyde. Why Strathclyde, many asked? God only knows, but every man must have a goal in life. Being an engineer or a pilot didn’t cut it for me. My soul was filled with wanderlust and the need for adventure.

So, after leaving home, I dropped out. I even went to Strathclyde, passing through it in a sleepy haze while being rocked gently to slumber in the passenger seat of an unknown truck.

Since then, I have done many things and seen many places, always following my instincts and trusting in my destiny. I am self taught in many things, a jack of all trades and

That's an interesting question. Thank you. I'm a great believer in the interconnected nature of the universe, so for me, it's hard to find anything i'd want to change. I am inspired to write by the world around me, whether that's an overheard conversation, a picture on facebook, or a piece of music I hear, they all bring forth ideas which I want to write about. If I was somebody else, I'd say focus, on one particular piece at a time, but that's not how I write. I've nearly finished another novel and can't get the inspiration to complete it at the moment, but I have faith that when the time is right, I will finish the job. In the meantime, I write other things, short stories and drabbles instead.

I do however include some of my experiences, both travelling and during the rest of my life in my writings, whether they be scenes in my novels or short stories or drabbles. For instance, there is a part of the book The Gathering of the Clans where Conal travels under the mountains to reach Ard Pect. This is based on a real life experience of a childhood den we found. The only was to reach it was to shuffle along a pipe inch by inch in the darkness as it was in a tunnel under a main road in Bolton Lancashire. The light of the entrance would gradually shrink as it got darker and darker, and then would disappear altogether as the tunnel turned a corner leaving you in pitch blackness, with nothing but the spiders webs and the splashing of rats in the stream for company. It was a great den as you needed lots of courage to reach it,(less)

The Graveyard

The air was still, save for the occasional hawking of sullen crow, and the far off whine of a forgotten hound. I strolled slowly through the rusty graveyard, pausing here and there to imagine the stories that each of the discarded hulls would tell, if only they could speak.
Some, were evidently ancient. They had lived a long and fruitful existence, before coming to their final resting place. Their Read more of this blog post »

Douglas Adams
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Martin Luther King Jr.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

Henry David Thoreau
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods

Henry David Thoreau
“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.”
Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work. But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things..”
