Back in the Game
It's been quite a while since I released a new work. Life took over for a few years, got me off track, then Covid took the fun out of everything. But now, life is a wee bit better and I'm back with a book I've been working at for a while. I wanted to write something completely different than what I've done in the past.
Here is the synopsis for Broken Road.....
In the quaint, beautiful town of Canyon Falls, a wealthy man just became wealthier, striking it rich in gold yet again. Word travels fast, and after cashing in at the Canyon Falls National Bank, the largest bank in the area, dishonest and downright devious criminals take interest. Though they each want to get their hands on Hershel Fitzgerald’s money, they also had vastly different reasons.
Outlaw Roman Lynch had been contemplating what a different life would feel like. Since he and best friend, Drake Van Horn, lost their young friend Eli because of imposters setting them up for crimes they didn’t commit, Roman thought maybe he wasn’t cut out for the outlaw life anymore. That was until he and Drake decided to team up with a couple of friends and fellow criminals to rob Fitzgerald of his recently acquired wealth. “Just one more,” Roman agreed.
While in town, something happened that Roman had not expected…a woman. Not just any woman, but the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. Her name was Anna, and he wanted to speak to her more than he wanted anything else.
Soon, Roman suspects Fitzgerald is more than he seems, and Fitzgerald realizes Roman and his friends are outlaws. More problems arise when Roman and his partners find themselves one step behind a mastermind whose vengeance outweighs the value of their lives.
Secrets, lies, and revenge spiral out of control, putting lives in danger and changing others forever. But for Roman, the worst is yet to come.

Almost time!
After two years of praying, hoping, and a little crying, my dream of publishing a children's book is finally becoming a reality. In the next few days, the proof of Little Gideon will arrive at my home and after a surreal moment of holding it in my hand, I will approve its publication. I cannot express my excitement and how much this means to me. I will post an update when Little Gideon is available for purchase.

My Next Venture
It's difficult finding time to get on the computer, let alone sit there for more than five minutes blogging. I finally have a few minutes to tell you about my latest project.
I've been wanting to write a children's book for some time now but there are so many different books and ideas already out on the market that the thought of creating my own was discouraging. So for a while I let the idea go and instead wrote down several ideas for more YA books and even an Adult book (no not THAT kind of Adult book). But the desire to write for children never left me.
A couple of months ago, while working on the never-ending drywall sanding in my new house, the idea I'd been waiting for finally hit me. I rushed to write it down because I'm VERY forgetful (as my son's teacher has probably figured out by now as many times as I've forgotten his backpack). After writing notes I noticed there was something off. At this point, the story would be about a little boy but that idea just seemed too blasé. Kids relate to other kids, sure, but they connect more with animals. So, I decided to change the character to a mouse.
Before I could begin writing, my little mouse needed a name. Now, because I wanted the story to be about a boy--or in this case a mouse--wanting to meet Jesus, I wanted to use a biblical name. I googled biblical baby names and scrolled through several but nothing was standing out, until I got to the G's. The name Gideon jumped out at me. I knew it was the one. Thus was born, Little Gideon.
Within two hours, I had a rough draft. The feeling was indescribable. I'd been dreaming about this for so long and then all of a sudden I had it. So for the time being I was finished. So then I picked up my Bible because I wanted to look something up I'd been curious about. The very first page I turned to was the story of Gideon. My mouth fell open. It was totally a sign from God--conformation that this story I'd just written was His, not mine.
My next task was to find an illustrator. First, I wanted to send this to an agent. I dream of getting traditionally published. But after searching and searching through endless agencies, I wasn't finding anyone who stood out. So again I prayed to be shown what to do. Should I use an agency or self publish again. I ultimately felt I needed to self publish again because I didn't want Little Gideon's story tarnished by editors who would want to change things. And his name was definitely off limits.
Of course I had no idea how to do this with CreateSpace. I'm not able to purchase programs to design children's books or buy a $100 drawing tablet. So I did some research, asked some questions, and I believe I've got the necessary information to put it together. But I still needed someone to illustrate the pictures.
First I asked my father in law who is good at drawing and painting. But with so much going on with our house and life in general, there just hasn't been time. Recently, I met a woman at a convention for small business shopping. She and I set up tables selling our products at the same venue. She sold gourds that she painted herself. They were beautiful. At the time, the thought of asking for her help never crossed my mind. Afterward, every time I prayed about finding an illustrator, her face came to mind. So, I contacted her.
She's excited about the idea. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it's looking good. And her favorite Biblical story is the story of Gideon ;) I believe that soon Little Gideon's story will come alive. I would appreciate any and all the prayers I can get. Every part of this journey has been a blessing and I look forward to seeing the results in the near future.

From the author of the young adult trilogy, Redemption, comes a story of secrets, lies, and young love, wrapped in mystery and deceit. This ABNA quarter finalist is sure to keep you turning the pages.
Deep in the forests of Northern New Zealand lies a Maori village that's been hidden from the eyes of men for generations. Protected by rumors of ghosts, the village residents have survived, undetected, since they were banished from their tribe, left to die in the wilderness.
European settlers brought many modern conveniences with them such as guns and architectural know-how. At first, the Maori natives were not accepting of their new neighbors, but as time went on and Maori men fell in love with English women, they gave in. That was until the Maori discovered a dark secret that flowed in the veins of the new residents. A secret that changed them from human to beast.
Grace joins her family at their New Zealand mission. A lover of photography, she ventures into the forest to take pictures, finding a small river running beside the forbidden Shadow Land. Grace spots a young deer, rare to New Zealand, chasing it through the forest. Here, she meets Marama, a boy who carries with him a mystery beyond anything she ever thought imaginable.
Intrigued with each other, they agree to meet discretely to keep Marama and his family's existence secret. When the leader of Grace's village finds out who and what Marama is, they find themselves in a battle for their lives

The Time Has Come

His Name is Moonlight is a ABNA Quarter Finalist. It received positive reviews during the competition, like this one.... "I'm very interested in where this story will go. I haven't read a lot of missionary stories that really rang true to me as a young adult novel. This does. Grace's voice is natural as a teen and even though she is on a mission trip, she is still a fun character. I like how she is juxtaposed between the rebellious preacher's daughter and doesn't seem like the overly devout preacher's daughter either. She is relatable. I'm so intrigued about the supernatural element that you discuss. Overall, this is enjoyable and I would like to read more."
As with my previous work, I'm extremely proud of His Name is Moonlight, even more so than Redemption because this novel took me into a world I wasn't familiar with. The trip was a roller coaster ride and the outcome was simply amazing. The research done for this setting was far more involved than with Redemption. I'm also happy to say that I had more help with editing than before. What a relief.
If you decide to take a chance on His Name is Moonlight, I sincerely hope you enjoy the experience.

His Name is Moonlight First Look
I'm very excited to announce that His Name is Moonlight is almost ready for publication! In 2014, HNIM became a quarter finalist in the ABNA contest. It was very close to becoming a semi-finalist but fell after receiving one negative review. I am currently reading over the manuscript one last time before publication, tweaking as needed. At this time, I am undecided whether to leave HNIM as a stand alone novel or add more to Grace and Marama's story. I couldn't be more happy with how this story turned out and I can't wait for everyone to read it.
Enjoy :)
Deep in the forests of Northern New Zealand, lies a Maori village that's been hidden from the eyes of men for generations. Protected by rumors of ghosts haunting the forest, the village residents have been able to survive, undetected, since they were banished from their tribe, left to die in the wilderness.
European settlers brought many modern conveniences with them as they inhabited this land, such as guns and architectural know-how. At first, the Maori natives were not accepting of their new neighbors, but as time went on and as Maori men fell in love with English women, they gave in. That was until the Maori discovered a dark secret that flowed in the veins of their new residents. A secret that changed them from human to beast.
While struggling with the decision to attend college, Grace decides to join her family at their New Zealand mission. Along with the help of contractors, Grace's father has built a small village of newly constructed cabins for the Maori families to live in. They also bring in food, toiletries, and clothing.
A lover of photography, Grace ventures into the forest behind the mission to take pictures. She finds a small river running beside the forbidden Shadow Land. Grace spots a young deer--rare to New Zealand. She crosses the river and chases it through the forest. Here, she meets Marama, a boy who carries with him a mystery beyond anything she ever thought imaginable.

The End
Recently, I published the last book of Redemption...Grace. It is the final book of the trilogy and an end to a very long period of my life. I first started this trilogy in 2007 with the rough draft of Redemption. Many years past as I worked to finalize the story. Redemption and Sacrifice were written within 6 months. Grace (then titled Amazing Grace) took much longer to finish. Abby's story was started but then put to the side as I became a mother and then began a different work. Part of the reason it took so long to finish was because I lost confidence after being told by an agent that I should write something else, leading me to create my next work to be published...His Name is Moonlight.
But now, I've finally finished what I set out to do all those years ago. There is a certain amount of weight that lifted off my shoulders when I received the email stating that Grace was LIVE on Amazon. Abby's story was finished. For now anyway.
At some point in the future, I have plans to write a prequel that will focus on Caleb's life as a vampire before meeting Abby. Maybe, just maybe, someday I will discover a post-Redemption life that needs to be told. For now, the Redemption trilogy is finished.
My life has changed so much since I typed that first word. I've learned much more about who I am as a writer and expectations I have in place for myself as I create future works.
The Redemption story may not be for everyone, but for those who found their way into it's pages, I hope they discovered something meaningful that touched their heart in a way that may change them forever.
Below is the synopsis for Grace. Upon reading, those who find intrigue in the Redemption story and decide to take a chance, I thank you. Thank you for your support and interest in my hard work. Writing is a dream come true but also the hardest thing I've ever done. God Bless you all :)
Grace
Grace
Is it possible to love someone so completely, so intensely that they could never die? To give them more than just your love, your heart, or your soul? What if you could give them the miracle of immortality?
With the loss of her parents, her grandmother, and two of her closest friends, it is safe to say that Abby has had her fair share of heartache. But, in all her misfortune, there was nothing so terrible—so frightening—as what she was about to face.
An unknown force has begun attacking her from the inside, giving her no other option but to place her life in the hands of her faith. Instead of confiding in Caleb as she normally would, Abby keeps the truth hidden from the man she is about to marry in an attempt to prove to herself that God will ultimately save her. However, with the passing of time her fate becomes gravely evident and soon she gives up on everything.
Meanwhile, another threat to Abby’s life looms in the shadows. After a small group of vampires shows up on her doorstep searching for one of their own, a past she thought was gone forever brings news of a mutual enemy plotting revenge upon those who destroyed the army they were creating in Louisville. Their target is Abby.
Secrets, lies, revenge and revelations bring Abby’s story to an end that she never saw coming.
