Ah, thank you! I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed writing it.
My second book, The Thirteenth Earl, will be coming out in 2016. It's a Victorian Gothic with seances, spirits, and of course, smooches. It's not a sequel to AMAR...but I am finishing that right now. (It will be a novella, to go between the first and second books in the series.)
If I say any more, it will be a spoiler. :)(less)

I loved your thoughtful review. And this gives me an opportunity to talk about this issue--which, it is an issue, within Romance.

It's so difficult to tow the line in this genre: I have been told to make things less sexual and more sexual, at different times. Balancing what the readers want and what I want to write can become a thorny thing to navigate. In the end, I put the bedroom stuff where it belongs, where it would happen in the course of a real life. I think it's important, especially in a culture where women are still shamed for even thinking about what is a natural function of our messy and complicated bodies.

I know it makes me inaccessible to younger readers, but they'll eventually grow up and my books will be here.

Thank you again, Iris--I live for reviews like yours, someone who reads and gets exactly what I was going for in the story! (less)

“Now everything about their lives had become a duet.”
Evelyn Pryce, A Man Above Reproach

“It is, of course, much easier for a literary character to take a risk for love. The realities of social strata and responsibility mean nothing but a plot point in today’s modern literature, but outside of these stories we are not pushing for change. The ideals we embody in our art rarely play themselves out in our lives. What would happen if we took the example of our fictional heroes; what if each of us was a Don Juan?”
Evelyn Pryce, A Man Above Reproach

“This is perhaps a foolish risk,” she said against his ear.
“What will they do if they catch us?” He gave her a look of mock horror. “Make me marry you?”
“That would be the respectful thing to do.”
“I respect you,” he said darkly, grazing his teeth and tongue over the lace that framed her bosom. “Shall I take you upstairs and respect you over and over again?”
