THE PERFECT DAY

★★★★★ This fast-paced, action thriller was easy to read and difficult to put down. From headless murder victims to a terrorist plot, Detective Paul Friedman has his work cut out for me. Even the Magic Kingdom isn't safe. The tale was so engrossing and well-written that I read half of it in one sitting when I merely wanted to read a chapter to get a feel for the work. Kudos to Gunnar Angel Lawrence! He's becoming the new master of suspense.

The Hunted by John de Silva

When a young couple take off for a romantic getaway in an isolated cabin in the woods, they become the victims of two psychopaths. Then the nightmare begins. The couple, Meredith and Danny, have a new objective - staying alive through the night. And just when they thought they were safe - bang! This story is short and the type that can be read in one sitting, but it may not be the one you want to read at bedtime.

THE DEAD GAME by Susanne Leist

The Dead Game
by Susanne Leist (Goodreads Author)
Linda moves to a seaside town to live a quiet life. She opens a bookstore and makes new friends. Life is simple--that is until the dead body washes up on shore. Linda is horrified to find that dead bodies and disappearing tourists are common for this small town. As soon as the sun sets, the residents and tourists are stalked by dark shadows. But this is only the beginning.

Linda and her friends receive an unsigned invitation to a party at a deserted house. They are pursued through revolving rooms and dangerous traps, barely escaping with their lives. Two of their own remain trapped in the house. Or so they think.

They must embark on a difficult journey, chased by unnatural creatures, not knowing whom to trust, to uncover the one controlling the game and everyone in town. Who are The Dead? Are they humans or vampires? Or a combination of both? Will there be an end to their evil game? Will Linda and Todd find love? Will a second book be needed?

The Dead Game has begun.

My Review

5 of 5 stars

When Linda comes to Oasis, she believes she's fond the ideal town. It's quiet and charming - the perfect place to open a bookstore and make new friends. However, at night the residents are stalked by dark shadows, then dead bodies wash up on the shore and tourists disappear. Linda and her friends realize they must locate "The Dead" just about the time they are invited to End House. When they enter End House, Linda and her friends are trapped in a nightmare. This was one of the scariest books I ever read, and that includes Stephen King! If you're looking for a well-written book that will scare the hell out of you, try this one.
About the Author
Susanne Leist graduated with an M.B.A. in Finance. Wherever life has led her, through the hectic commodities’ markets or the number-crunching field of budgeting, she’s continued to read and daydream. Unbeknownst to her, she had been pursuing her dream all along, her dream of putting her words down on paper for everyone to enjoy. She currently resides on Long Island with her husband, two daughters, and Maltese.
Her first book, The Dead Game, is a paranormal thriller with humans, vampires, and vampire derivatives. Her goal has been to write a book different than the usual vampire story or murder mystery. She wanted a murder mystery with victims, clues, and suspects. She created that and much more. The book has revolving rooms, traps, falling cages, and anything her active imagination could create. The Dead Game is a fun ride into the realms of the supernatural.

VAMPIR by John Reinhard Dizon

What an incredible story! Knowing that John Dizon writes in different genres, I wasn't sure where this story would fall. After finishing this great book, I still don't know. It's a great thriller and crime drama but with a vampire who is a direct descendant of Dracula. The story moves across two continents as an NYPD detective tries to prove his girlfriend's innocence in a strange murder with a missing body. This book is a real page turner, and John Dizon has proved once again that he is the master of suspense.
