Bonny Beth Elwell is descended from some of the first settlers of Upper Pittsgrove, Elmer and Pittsgrove, and her family has lived in the region for over three hundred years. As her interest in genealogy grew, she became fascinated with the history of her homeland.
After writing a family history narrative as part of her Bachelors degree in English from Covenant College, Elwell returned to her home region and became very involved with local history. She served as President of the Genealogical Society of Salem County for several years, as well as serving on the board of the Salem County Historical Society and as president of the Greater Elmer Area Historical Society.
